Jay, I have learned so much form you. You explain things so clear and effective that the new person without electronic background can understand and not get overwhelmed. I watched other KZbin channels and was so confused since their presentation is focused on individual with electronic background. Thank you so much for taking your valuable time making these videos.

I am happy and glad that you enjoy watching and learning. Thank you very much! I really appreciate your time taking time to send me such a uplifting comments. I am doing this as a hobby with no electronic background, trying my best to create detailed videos to encourage others without electronic background that are new to this hobby so they can understand and not get overwhelmed. So happy to know that is working for you. Have a good day! Regards, JZ

Hey Jay! I had just sent you an email when I decided to check out your channel to see if there was anything new. KZbin is NOT notifying me when you post new content. In fact, I hardly get any notifications from anyone that I have subscribed to at all. Glad I did...check that is. I enjoyed this one and I am sure that your friend is thrilled to have his set back and working properly again. I always enjoy watching your videos. I continue to be amazed at the miracle you worked with the "Rat House Radio" especially since you used a lot of things you had around your home without the need to purchase anything. Keep up the excellent work my friend!

Hi Wayne, is so good hearing from you my friend. I know what you mean about KZbin not sending notifications. They keep changing their notifications process with out telling the user. The latest one is after selecting the bell 🔔 you also need to select other options on bell notification. It is crazy and Not sure why they are doing that. They think is helpful but is really confusing for users. Very bad design, their website designer are very young and not thinking of users. I design software for over last 30 plus years and always thinking of users since they are using it not me 😂. Thank you so much for uplifting compliments. I am so glad that you are enjoying these videos. My goal is to pass along what I learned and rescue unwanted radios do to their condition. Guess we can say, like the challenge “can I fix it “. 😂😂. Have a fantastic day my friend. Regards, JZ

I was at a flea market (boot sale?) in Ohio a few years ago and I saw a almost new DX-160 in the box. The seller told me it did not work, but he only wanted 5 dollars for it. I bought it and took it home. I plugged it in and sure enough it did not work. I took the on/off volume switch and worked it back and forth a few times, and it sprang into life. That was about years ago and it still works just fine. I guess a bit of dirt on the contacts? Thanks for letting me tell one of the few good deals I have got.

Hi Ian, I do not mind at all my friend , that was a great buy. Glad that you could fix it, that is awesome! These days DX-160 cost a couple hundred in a good condition. I liked this receiver/radio that I worked on for David, so had to buy one for myself. LOL . I found DX-160 and hopefully can make a KZbin video of it. Just being so much busy, working full time and also in the process of remodeling our master bathroom. LOL. Have a fantastic day! Regards, Jay

You are doing great now Jay. You have more subscribers than me. Always a good practice to take pictures before you take anything apart. Great repair of that potentiometer Jay. People don't realize if you are careful you can fix those 9 out of 10 times.

My friend Larry, is so good to hear from you. I wished we both could get paid for the amount of time we put in creating KZbin videos and passing along our finding and knowledge. My hope is these videos encourage others to rescue our older technology so future generations can enjoy them as much as we do. You are absolutely right my friend, anything is fixable as long you don’t give up. Have a fantastic weekend my friend. Regards, JZ

That was one ☝️ of Radio 📻 Shack’s models. They were one ☝️ of the best in customer service, and they stood behind their products. In no way do I find this equipment junk, although capacitors start 💫 to go south, as far as tolerance is concerned 😟. That’s some beautiful 🤩 equipment on the inside, too, as well as outside. It was hard earned equipment that lasted 40 years before showing SMD (Silver Mica Disease 🦠), and other issues. Equipment very well worth it. This sounds like 👍 a series-string set. An isolation transformer is a must. Your friend, Jeff.

Jeffrey, good to hear from you my friend. I never worked on any of these receivers. After working on it for David, had to have one of my own 🙈 I bought model 60 it came with original external speaker, all manuals, out door short way wire and other stuff. Have not checked it out yet since got involved with family health issues and tons of house project as well as full time job. I guess that I 3 life time to complete everything I want to do 😂😂. Finally worked very late at night for a week on editing the video to up load it. Glad that you enjoyed watching it. Be well and safe. Thank you for being in touch and have a great weekend. Regards, JZ

Gaston, good hearing from you. That is a great question. Have you sprayed contact cleaner in volume control? Deoxit products makes a couple of products “not D100L” that has red labels. the other one that is in green container is much better product for volume control. Also check this video, he explains how to fix other issues with noise receiver . Hope this can help. Good luck and let me know the results. Have good day. @@RadioFixer I sprayed switches etc with de-oxit and touch up several s/joints and I now have a clear local am station. I am going to swap out more caps and use the service manual as a reference point. Thanks for the tips.

Just another question. What size cabinet screws is fitted on radio as the side screws were missing when I acquired receiver. Tks.
@RadioFixer Жыл бұрын
Gaston, so glad to hear that is working. I fixed the radio that you saw in KZbin for someone. I like it so much that bought one for myself. Have not have a chance to work on mine yet. Hope soon can work on mine. Have a great day. Regards, Jay

Just checking mine and is just philips head screw. 2 each side, not sure about the size. It should be regular screw. Hope this helps. Check hardware store, they are black. My radio is DX-160 but I am assuming they used same screws. Good luck on yours.

I had dx 160 regret selling it

Hi Ron, good to hear from you. I was not into the receiver but after working on this for David I got hooked 🙈. I know what you mean, I sold a few and later regretted since they were good performer. I still see online that need a few things to be fixed for a reasonable price. Have a great weekend Ron. Regards, JZ
