This is ridiculous. Something as basic as opening files should not have to come with hardships such as this. File Explorer should be running as smooth as other file browsers in other operating systems. Having to delete cache and browsing history basically negates the entire function of the quick access altogether so what is the point? Just to have momentary stability in a file explorer that will crash later again after the cache builds up? All this leads to an undesirable and unintuitive end use experience.

This worked! I noticed after my upgrade to windows 11, whenever I tried to open a zipped file/folder, it would crash windows explorer. Just then! I tried other zip programs- Winzip and others - didn't matter - file explorer would "crash" when I tried to unzip something. After doing your fix of deleting the BagMRU and Bags items in Regedit, I'm now able to unzip things.

I knew my devices were fine, as the problem only existed on my end, plus opening from the quick access sidebar worked just fine. I knew it was something "Windows". I've deleted the BagMRU and Bags in Regedit I restart and right clicking on a folder in file explorer causes explorer to crash again. I go back to the registry and find that BagMRU and Bags have come back. I've backed up the registry and placed the backup file in another subdirectory rather than a thumb drive or a storage place. Could that be the problem I'm having?

Found the fix: go to file explorer options, click the drop down and click this PC, click to clear the history, apply and ok. That did it for me

Got a fix, after uninstalling a software (name: format factory) the issue solved. If anyone using the same, give a try.

Two minutes after posting this comment, I figured out my problem. You need to disable the new context menu. I used the following command: reg.exe add "HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID\{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}\InprocServer32" /f /ve After a long time of right clicking in File Explorer not working, it's finally working again. How is this still a bug in W11? They really need to do better.
