I've been playing ARPGs since D2 but for some reason in PoE2 I keep re-rolling around act 2, frustrated with each build I make. I thought about quitting until 1.0, but this video has given me the inspiration I needed to jump back in and keep trying to put something together that works and still feels like it's my own creation and not someone else's build I need to follow.

I recommend a radical theory suggested to me. Defense beyond life and resistances on gear is a waste. Full tank or glass cannon you get one shot so enough defense to kill them quick is all you need. Try it on your next or current build. On the passive tree ONLY TAKE THINGS THAT INCREASE DAMAGE. It changes the game

Try a merc. I’m a bit of a noob and I’ve been blasting through the campaign. A balance between projectile damage and evasion in the skill tree … it’s been really straightforward so far.

I really appreciate this kind of content because you're walking people through the problem solving and thought process behind coming up with a character archetype and then executing on that, instead of just giving people a build guide to stomp around with. I wound up making about 3-4 characters to get a better understanding of how the different mechanics interacted with each other, but now im playing with a frost / stun monk in act 2 and I'm having a blast, and i have a much better sense of what to look for as far as gear and synergies going forward.

Once I found out that your honor bar was a combination of your health and energy shield, I just pump energy shield on gear and choose strength on the passive tree unless I need another stat to use gem upgrades. It’s unfortunate because I wanted to stack armor and health on my tanky warrior, but I need the extra honor so I have to use energy shield

Fun is definitely the most underrated part of a build. I have a lvl77 infernalist minion build. I have 10 arsonists at skill lvl23. It's incredibly strong, I just need to walk them to places and watch them nuke things, but god damn it's the most boring ARPG build I've ever seen.

I'm scaling back my minions with my Witch build. I'm about to hit act 3. I want the Witch to be the danger, not my minions. I'm focusing more on chaos and physical damaging spells+ crit rate and damage. I'm not wasting ability points to get the strongest minions possible when I can have way more insane single target damage.

Well, you've done it. I bought in and enjoying it so far as a cold sorceress (my old D2 love). Struggling at times with bosses and realized even a bit of resists makes a huge difference. Like going from -10 to 25. Then I can survive mistakes and usually recover before the next one. Heard bosses have one-shot attacks in endgame and not thrilled, but I'm still in act 2, so no issues for now. Next challenge will probably be monk, although right now I can't imagine how to survive in melee 😮 life is nice when you freeze everything from afar.

I'm glad you mentioned not needing to light the whole cluster. I've been trying to make my passive tree look all fancy, but luckily I'm only like lvl 20 lol

Fantastic! I've had the same issue with my warrior, when hitting cemetery i just kept dying......needed the armor passives. Applying our advise and searching the skills and the passive tree will change how I play going forward. Huge props man, thanks for this!

I did some slight passive tree adjustments in act 2 as a Monk, and getting a new staff REALLY helped. The game is so good!

My summon build didn't work out. Once I got into act two my summons were going down so hard, and so often while those skills left me with no means of self defense. It's just didn't work Todd Howard. So I'm using fire, frost, chaos, and hexes in a more freeform build approach. It's already working a lot better.

Do the support gems I have on my mace also apply to any other skill that uses the mace? Like say I have fire infusion on the mace itself, does that transfer over to rolling slam/bone shatter? I love these kinds of games but there always comes a point where my brain melts and I just don’t know if what I’m doing works

Shout-out to my fellow verbose individual :D My current "issue", if there is one, is that I love Lightning *and* Cold: Invoker was an obvious choice, so it's funny the video uses Monk as an example. Most low-level Monk skills are Cold, so I'm basically just a Cold Monk for now; my thinking is whether or not I stick with it all the way, or do I incorporate the Lightning in too? I can't even play with most of them yet to know what they're like! I saw the Ascendency and the passive cluster that allows you to penetrate both resistances, and I want to be like "screw this, we're doin' both!" Easier said than done, when your brain is also concerned about optimization...but you're right. It's Early Access, so fuck optimization! XD

I picked Blood Mage for my witch and immediately noticed that I basically debuffed my character. I am not going to rework it to make it viable. Killing myself before I can kill a trash mob is not an upgrade. Good video tho. 😊

I'm level 66 and soft lock at the end of act 3 cruel. Not enought resistances with my grenadier builds...i try a lot of things. I don't know what to do. I'm kind of sad to say to me i'll not see endgame

Honestly, it doesn't matter what build you use, as long as you know how to set your gear and passives to compliment what you want. There is no longer a need for build guides other than to learn how to use gems and sockets and things like that

Its really sad that 95% of this is solved by using trade, always played these games to find items not buy them, does not help that trade site and trading in PoE is a nightmare, whispering people constantly and just no reply

Issue is despite a lot of people say, drop from mobs and vendors are not enought to overcome the lack of Luck and all the currencies are useless, Magic item are useless if i can't update them. I'm soft lock because of resistances with my grenadier lvl 66... It's too long to level UP regarding my difficulty to progress. I don't know what to do now...

I'm making a melee chronomancer and I hit a pretty bug wall in act three. It was surprised jg becuase I died only 3 times in acts 1 and 2 now I die every map sometimes more than once. Totally fell off.

u missed a defense i use (( mind over matter )) on my blood knight witch🧙 its risky but if u build for it right its strong + my HP & SP potions heal me 🍷🍷 its double the suck🧛‍♀

Can you refund Skills, not Passives? I am new to POE 2 and started to unlock as many new skills as I could, but now I regret that ... Especially just hearing you say 9 skills is max (never knew that)

No need to feel regret. You're supposed to experiment on your first character. Once you figure out what skills you want to focus on, throw the rest of the skill gems in the stash. Your next character can have a head start on a build or have a temporary free skill to play around with until you unlock the skills you need.

@thedragonreborn7444 great advice I just finished Act 1 and first boss in Act 2. I have embraced that fully as I have respec'd my passives a couple times. So not too worried, but thought I would be stuck with the 9 skills I chose.

Do not follow what he says. You will be bricked at end game maps since will die before you can blink with so little life.

Life and resistances on gear, all offense in the tree. Glass Cannon or full tank you get one shot so honestly until they change things this is the build template. Try it if you don't believe me, but try it and thank me when the game makes sense.
