@EddieAtLarge I see you recommend the Mandala brand. Then in another comment, you state the Mandala brand is subpar. What brand of string do you recommend?
@EddieAtLarge Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, I do not have experience with any other brands. We are still working our way through the Mandala spool. The Mandala cord lasts for approximately 4-6 months of use before it wears out.

I have a nice fifth wheel that we live in full time with these blinds. We have several blinds with broken strings. After watching this video I will be attempting to fix them. I will probably be tying a knot at the spring because I don’t have the patience or dexterity to reuse the clips. Thanks 👍🏼

Hi Ron, glad this was helpful! I do have an updated video where I have installed high strength fishing leader in lieu of the lift cord. The new lift cord kept breaking on me. Yep. We've been laying low down here in South Texas. Hope y'all are doing well! Probably gonna skip the belt sander video this year, however, they have a new event that they started at The Gaff Bar called "Minnow Racing". Haven't seen it yet, but, they say it's a hoot! lol. Might have to do a short video on that...

Hey Ed, I'd wondered where you went too. Did you and Johnny get to cross paths before he returned to the great white north? and are you going to the big Q in the desert next month? We were thinking about it if we get a wild hair. Right now we are waiting for 14 degrees tonight. Hope you guys have a Merry Christmas.
@EddieAtLarge Жыл бұрын
Hi John! Ya, had taken some time off from making videos, but, feel like I’m ready to start back up again. Johnny did stop down here over Thanksgiving and I think that will be in his next video. We do plan to go to Q but only for 2 or 3 nights. Leaving here on January 23rd and will arrive there on the 25th or 26th. Man, 14F. We are at 23F this morning. Lowest we’ve ever done in the rig was 17F 2 years ago during the Texas ice storm. Crazy weather this year! We’re thinking of wintering in AZ next year. Been watching the weather out there and it’s been pretty near perfect. Well, stay safe, warm and we wish you and your family a very merry Christmas!

Nice repair. I just ordered the Mandala 2mm cord from amazon. I hope it fits and isn't too tight or binds up? I'm doing all 9 shades in the RV. 4 with single strings and 5 with doubles. I'll let you know if the 2mm worked or not.
@EddieAtLarge Жыл бұрын
Hey Frank. Glad to hear our video was helpful. The 2 mm size works well, however, the Mandala brand isn’t a very strong string. It only lasts about 2-4 months before it breaks. I haven’t tried any other brands yet, but, I would recommend canceling your order and trying a different brand. Please let us know if you find another brand that works well for you. Thanks!
@seymourscagnetti1413 Жыл бұрын
@@EddieAtLarge Eddie, I ordered it last night (amazon). It is preparing for shipment to arrive Mon. I put a request to cancel (not guaranteed). If it ships, I'll restring all shades. The RV is going up for sale or trade soon (2014 Keystone 299ret). Upgrading to a 2020 Riverstone Legacy 39rkfb. Thanks for the tip! Cheers.

I fish alot deep sea why can't you use 50 or 90 pound braided line
@EddieAtLarge2 күн бұрын
Have you seen my other video where I use 125lb monofilament fishing leader? I use the monofilament as I believe it would hold up better than braided and the thickness of the 125lb test is close to the same as the lift cord. It’s been about 6 months now and the blinds are still all working great with no more broken cords. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gKXYmnuEhKtjmacsi=iPMzhQ0XQOQ6_Nh1

I broke the cheap hard plastic locking clips that holds the shade up. Can they be replaced? If so, where can I get them? Thank you, Mike
@EddieAtLarge3 ай бұрын
Hey Mike, same thing happened to a few of ours. No idea where to get them replaced, however, I just took the end caps from the top and drilled a hole for the string to run through. Not a perfect fit, but, it is functional and we can’t see the end on the top where the missing piece is as the valance hides it. Hope that helps!

Glad it was helpful Eric! Just so you know, the lift cord that I used from Amazon has been fraying and breaking just like the original. I bought some high test fishing leader and installed it on one of my binds several months ago. It’s been working great. Here’s a KZbin short that I did showing the end result. RV Blind Repair Using High Test Fishing Leader kzbin.infoPTC0f7YR2bs?feature=share It was a little more difficult to install than the cord, however, I’m certain that I won’t need to replace it again. Hope that helps!

While investigating my new-to-me day/night shades in my older winnebago, the string came unattached from one side at the very bottom (from the peg that's in the wall) and then the tip of said string disappeared. Did it go into the bottom of the blind? How the heck do I retrieve it? I don't want to make this situation much worse. Freaking out, here. Please help.
@EddieAtLarge Жыл бұрын
Yes, it would have went into the bottom of the blind. Just follow what we did on the video to open the end, remove the slide piece and retrieve the string. Then put back together in reverse.
