I purchased this model of Stanley jump it in September 3rd 2019 it has worked flawlessly for me. Now after watching your video I am ordering a new battery. But I have had no issues with the compressor so far just power issues.

Great tear down. I got maybe 4 good uses off mine and it crapped out right after the warranty expired. The piston in the compressor melted and was in pieces. I expected better from Stanley.

Wow. 3rd one!? I've had the same one forever! Never had a prob, just battery isn't holding charge. Needs replacing.

Got one as I was assigned to work in rural areas and had long, secluded drive times. Didn't want to be stranded ya know? It got me through one summer of topping off tires and a jump start, and then the compressor died. And then it won't hold a charge. I got Stanley because of the name and availability, well, it's not the same Stanley reliability I remember as a kid.

Okay, so mine won't charge! Bought it when I worked at the Fair around 2015 as part of my job and it worked great, but NOW it doesn't want to hold a charge....now I might have an answer.

I had mine over 3 years and it worked well, EXCEPT for the air compressor - I never bought it for that, only the jump starter. Thanks for the video showing how to take it apart (screw locations) because I may replace the battery that will only charge to about 11.97 v now. Wal-mart actually has their own brand and they are better and come with a 120v outlet (inverter) too for about the same or less $$ than this.

I have one of these. Have had it since about 2002. It has worked great. I haven't used it in maybe 2 years. Just cleaned the garage decided to charge it up, and have found it is no longer charging. But, I can say it worked for about 15 years just fine. I might try ordering a new battery.

I believe that I have the 1st gen version of this. Labeled "Stanley 500 Amp" on top and "1000 peak battery amp" below. We own 2 of these, one for each car. I've had mine for over 10yrs and the battery is no longer holding a full charge, and certainly not holding it for quite as long. I only charge it twice a year, Oct and around Feb/Mar., as I kept it in the car year round. I've probably saved more people with this, than I've actually had to use for myself. I'll eventually change the internal battery when the time comes! I paid $45 for the 1st one and around $60, 3 yrs later for our second one at CostCo.

I've had mine for over 5yrs and have never had a problem until yesterday. My air compressor won't turn on at all. When I flip the button to "on" nothing happens. I've plugged it in and waited several hours for it to get a good charge (even though I don't think the charge was the issue), but still nothing. I'm going to try some of your advice and see if I can troubleshoot the issue. Thanks!

Here's a tip don't use the transformer get a battery maintainer and attach it to the internal battery terminals with the ring connectors that will keep your unit fully charged at optimal power and make the battery last longer. I did it with mine and it's much better than the AC adapter that comes with most because they want it disconnected once it's fully charged and if you keep it at home like me it can go dead before you use it. But a good battery maintainer will give the battery the equivalent of exercising to maintain it's power, health, longevity and optimal charge..

I purchased mine in 2017 from Sam's Club. I took it out of my truck and put it on the charger for 28 hours. It did not charge up so I called the Stanley company. Boy was that a mistake. Stanley has been bought and sold so many times it was dealing like a rented mule.

I've got the 1200 kit for Christmas one year, and it's served me well these last 3-4 years. The AC Motor on my blew (I shouldn't be smelling it), but it looks like an easy fix, now to figure out how to fix it, lol

Good job on repair. Mine just stopped working as well. Can you provide a more detailed explanation of how you repaired yours? I don't want to junk it yet. I've only had it just under a year.

Just replaced the battery in my old b&d booster. While inside I found a wire broke off at the compressor. Only used it a couple or three times but ok since the inverter and lighter ports and jumper still worked. Finally the battery just gave out. Found crappy connection terminals at the klixon switch just before entering the compressor motor. Fairly certain the switch is overload protection for the motor. Reconnected with solder. Hose to gauge wouldn't stay on and had a crack. Cut and capped it. No gage but compressor works great. Anyway how accurate are the guages? After seeing the compressor on your vid I realized it's the same as mine. Maybe being a little harsh on Stanley. These manufacturers are probably all using the same generic components and slapping their names on the end product with the exception of the high end units. My battery was also a SEL. It was a 19 ah and after poring over the multitudes of batteries actually found a 20 ah direct replacement cheaper and longer warranty than the 19. Looks like I may have compressor issues in my future after seeing yours. Like all batteries there is a life expectancy and replacement is way better than tossing the pack and buying a new one especially a more expensive unit with the additional features. Also Advance/Auto Zone etc. will take the old batteries. Thanks for sharing you project.

I'm having an issue where it won't jump. The battery is good, I pulled it out and it passed my battery tester and charged it externally as well. The flashlight works, compressor works and will charge my phone as well. But it won't jump start.
