How to fix your Washing Machine, if tripping the fuse board? (Beko, Hotpoint, Indesit, Bosch, etc.)

Thanks George. My Beko WMI 71641 is tripping the RCCB when I press the on/off switch. I have checked the socket with another appliance and it is ok. I will disconnect the heater (before taking it out) tomorrow and check again, thanks mate.

Hi, Did you moved, transport recently your machine? May wires were damaged during transport. Or the PC board is broken( transistor burnt). If you just turn on the machine and not start a programme I don’t think the heater would be the issue.

@@georgesworkshop8600 Hi George. It was the heater element. As soon as I disconnected the wiring to the heater the machine switched on as normal. I put a meter across the element and it showed good continuity, however when I checked each terminal to earth there was very slight ohms reading so element was faulty. I have replaced the element and the machine is back to normal operation. A very easy and simple job. Thanks for the inspiration👍

Great video George, my machine trips the RCD a short time after starting a program and is not turning or spinning. Could it be the same problem or more if not turning or spinning.?

In the beginning filling up with water and the pump is working, no spinning or turning.

Before even pulling the element out, couldn’t you have just ohmed the connection points to see if you are reading high ohms?

Many times when tested it seems ok, won’t diagnose physical damage like rust.

I heard 2 loud bang noises and then a burning smell and immediately the machine switched off and tripped the electrics in the kitchen. What could the issue be ? Its a Hotpoint washer dryer

Hi, If this happened relatively shortly after started your machine, it could be the heating element. If after a while when washing program was in progress, then I can’t advise.

Hi Dan, It’s not clear. Do you mean end of washing cycle or drying cycle?

Which function is running when this tripping happens you should find the problem there.

@@georgesworkshop8600 no. I mean at the start of the final rinse. It turns on the dryer fan like it should. Then when it turns off the drying fan it trips the RCD
