I ordered a set from All Pro last week. This is going to be my first mod, along with installing some ricochet skids. Great video, it answered all my questions!

good question... Since there are so many factors (rear suspension setup, tire size,...) that go into it i suggest giving Metal Tech a call.

Final torque should be applied with all four wheels on the ground to prevent pre-load on the control arm bushings. In the video he torqued it in the air..

Thanks for posting this video this helps a lot I need to replace the rear upper as well is it as simple as the lower?
@lastgreatroadtrip9 жыл бұрын
+Iwo Jima it is simple. Just do one at a time so they don't move around.

Im going to be installing the updated metaltech lower arms on my fj soon. With regards to the geometry changes due to the lift, did you have to make any? I have a 3 in lift in the rear and wasnt sure if the new lower arms should be adjusted at a length different than stock. Thanks!!!!
@lastgreatroadtrip5 жыл бұрын
matched the length to the original OEM Lower Control Arm.

Just noticed that u jacked up the truck right under the differential case ...! Wouldn’t that damage it or it’s normal ..??? Am just a noob so plz bare with me thanx 🇨🇦

Floor jack's flat surface and rubber pad spreads the weight out... the rear axle's diff housing is plenty strong to lift the rear of an empty truck. And ask all the questions you want!!!

@lastgreatroadtrip Question. I just installed the All-Pro pro links and link skids. When I tried to torque the front bolts I just kept tightening and tightening to the point I thought I was going to break something. I got up to about 75-80 ft. lbs and quit. Then I noticed that the link skid and factory mount appeared to actually be crushing. The rear bolt torqued to 97 ft. lbs with no problem. Have you ever seen this happen?

@HunterCO1 Clearly you're too smart for this channel. Thanks for watching :-)

@Last Great Road Trip : Do you need to do another alignment after switching out lower control arms?
@lastgreatroadtrip10 жыл бұрын
Sam, no on the rear but yes if you replace your front lower control arms.

Not at all... Toyota built the LCA for street and average off road conditions just not to carry the weight of the rig when you start dragging it over large rocks on the more extreme trails.

4:03, Anybody else have their eyeball start twitching at how he torqued that?

It helps keep everything aligned and in place while you swap out the LCA. Not absolutely necessary but very very helpful.
