One thing i missed, is the CID.
Read info about your phone first on 4SE before downloading firmware. take note about its CID number (49, 50, 51, 52, 53, 80 and 81) and then download the correct version CID firmware such as if your phone CID is 53, download the firmwares that end with 'RED53' only, or if your phone CID is 51 or 52 you can download both RED52 and RED53 firmwares. you can upgrade CID but you cannot downgrade.
What is CID?
CID (Customer Identity) is a sort of security used in Sony Ericsson phones to protect them against unauthorized access. The higher the CID the more difficult it is to modify your phone with free tools.
There are two types of CID: OTP CID (One Time Programmable) and Phone CID. First one is nearly impossible to change, you have to replace the chip to change it. Second one is usually the same or higher than the OTP CID and can be changed using free/payed tools or also cannot be changed, depending on the phone's platform and model.
On A1 platform it is vital to flash your phone with the firmware with exactly the same CID as your Phone CID.
