I've watched this a few times because I haven't seen any video so far that explains technically what a flash is doing. However; I always felt the powder looked best when the modeling light came back on after Kai took his shot. Anyway DigitalRev.. please do an episode on how Flashes actually work because the little bit in this video is invaluable.
@rjhphotos10 жыл бұрын
That flash works because the flash duration is so short (1/1000 - 1/4000) or so so it freezes the action. Then you basically set your shutter/ISO/aperature to completely cut out the ambient light and use the flashes to light your subject freezing motion.
@kishascape3 жыл бұрын
@@rjhphotos nope. 1/10000 of a second minimum depending on what you set the power too.

Can't you set a camera to take a burst of photos? Seems like that would be easier to catch the moment.
@Cinnamon_enthusiast10 жыл бұрын
I think it depends on the fps; if you're doing it with a 1dx at 12 fps then it would probably help, but if you're doing it with like a rebel t5i at like 4 fps then it might better to just time the one photo

***** Why not? Up to about 200Ws/flash my packs manage to keep up with a 1Dx at full speed, sounds quite workable for burst shooting to me...And then there are always bitube heads or alternation if that isn't enough.
@Jordan-fg9cc10 жыл бұрын
Robert Martinu most strobes take about 2-3s to charge. also this is clearly not done on a huge budget
@RMLawliet10 жыл бұрын
Jordan Wegener Well, renting a fast charging pack for the day costs less then an hour of the models time, or the rent for the location - if you want to save money make the work more efficient rather then cutting corners.

I'd have to agree. I just started photography at the beginning of this year. I've watched a few Digital Rev stuff at the beginning and found Kai rather annoying. I liked some of the concepts, but I didn't really get them. Now that I've watched 100 of videos from other youtubers explaining photography and I understand it a lot more now... I quite enjoy these videos. They give me ideas.

Good video. Two steps down in entertainment value from the norm though. Up until now the guys have always managed to inform & entertain in equal measure, Kai's personality is what makes the DRTV videos pop. The interaction between the presenters is where the good stuff is. When Kai becomes Kai-lite there is something missing. DR don't want to offend, but this is the internet, people see a neg comment and join the hate-herd. Keep doing what you are (were) doing guys, it is why people come. LoveX
