How to Flash Your BIOS Without a CPU, RAM or GPU
So you need to flash or update your BIOS and you don't have the correct CPU for that motherboard to update BIOS? Well don't worry, I will show you a full guide on successfully flashing the BIOS by using the BIOS flashback button.
The main reason for doing this is if the new CPU was not supported by the existing BIOS version on the motherboard.
You will need a computer to download BIOS
You will need a USB Flash drive formatted to Fat32
You will need a Power Supply

MSI MAG B550M BAZOOKA I have the same motherboard and forgot all about this bios button because when it is in the case it is set back a bit behind the IO shield, good to know it's there if I need it.

I wish this was available back in the day - has anyone else been around long enough to remember the CIH virus? that bugger was a real headache, it mangled the 1st 1k or so of the hdd and totally screwed the bios - back then, some shops just replaced the board and charged the customer - some of us came up with an idea of pulling the bios chip and do a slightly dodgy procedure of hot swapping it in a board that had the same chipset and re flashing the corrupted chip twice - as flashing it once sometimes resulting in a checksum error and fail to run but double flashing seemed to work

Imagine your power goes down mid flash :D Back in the day you would need to replace your bios chip or just returning the damn thing to manufacturer for repair. Nowadays motherboards have 2nd bios in case something like that happens :D

Very nice video...I have a few questions Why on earth do we have to rename the file Asus is the same way? Also why cant we use the USB 3.0 slot thought they down version compatible ? Just kinda wondering why LOL.

You need to rename it because MSI say so and it don't support USB 3.0

@@Britec09 It's weird that MSI didn't just include the file renamed in the ZIP file. As for the USB 2.0, I get that. The different channels on the bus to the bridge. It's a guarantee of sorts. The USB 3 controller requires additional power and is less speed tolerant. USB 2 may be slower, but tolerates speeds at lower power more consistently in my experience. Also, the bus channel for USB 2 is likely less busy with nothing attached to the mobo. I would think it would be good to NOT have a keyboard/mouse attached just in case it caused timing issues on the bus. This assumes I'm right, and I could totally be wrong.
