Fantastic breakdown I'm training my son in all the arts I've studied and this type of step by step instruction helps me find new ways to explain what I do automatically

Just remember that 5 steps is just for learning, in actual use it is 2 before the arm bar: parry jab and everything else to the cross is done in one smooth motion with elbow coming in at the same time the other hand is wrapping around.

Kali influenced Bruce Lee tremendously (especially when he met Dan Inosanto). Kali is extremely useful when it comes to street defense on every level; however, if dealing with a knife attack the best thing is to run and/or get an equalizer. "Never defend against the knife" Paul Vunak

I can understand why movies like empty hand kali. That smooth flowing makes really good choreography. In real life I’d stick to Muay Thai or western boxing. You can’t possibly keep parrying or trapping every shot. Arms protecting your face and head movement are way more efficient.

Good technique but it seems too busy. A decent boxer will pull back his arms immediately after a punch not leave them out. Against a normal guy it should be fine though. Great channel keep it up
@iluvleiah61607 жыл бұрын
The best thing to do is practice this with several serious boxers and see if this works, if it doesn't work there is no time to waste learning these moves. The best thing to do is attack and deffend in each move. I think arnis/eskrima/kali are the best with stix, blades and some other weapons but when it is empty handed its not that effective, on mypoint of view!! But u r right, boxers are quicker and always pull the punches back quickly.

All you know it alls saying this wont work or that wont work... More than half of you probably never trained M.A. a day in your life. The art doesnt make the fighter, the fighter makes the art. One artform in one persons hands will result in an ER visit, while the same artform in anothers will result in successful defense of ones person and possessions. Those of you who see a form of movement amd dismiss it because it looks to complicated to be practical miss the whole point of the rotation in the first place. Learn the principals, but be fluid in their application.

me looking at "walk the base": what if you just kick that knee in from the side? would that be "too much" force on a standard fight irl? cos way i see it fighting irl is usually anything goes, and given I had a knife pulled on me once, I didn't hesitate to break an arm.
@mcanastacio3 жыл бұрын
Could be a little difficult to get a good angle being clinched up that close. Walking the base is hard to counter because it’s hard to see! But hey, someone could probably make it work. I’d prefer kicking the outside of knees if need be.

Good explanation and breakdown. However, Boxers never lock their punches as demonstrated here. Can you do a video showing it with the Jab and Cross snapping back like a Boxer would really throw then make your techniques work against that scenario and you've got something that is functional.
@AZTigerMMA6 жыл бұрын
I love Panantucan , They have really good entries, Perry’s and set ups.butBut, They need to be really careful about how many combinations you can fit into one drill. In a real scenario you may get one or two in this chain. The reality is that is enough to make it effective however… If you start to do anymore than that… It gives a false sense of security

Why is he not throwing the left hook after the cross? There are not two beats in a fight only one. Attack and defense must be combined. The third movement should immediately follow the first. Enter off his guard do not wait for the jab. The core of the technique is great though. Do it in real time, tell your partner to hit you if he can. He that parries will find no joy in fencing.😊
@JohnBorgJacob5 жыл бұрын

Nice concept. But no need to keep blocking. Block 1st punch or jab and counter. Most of the time it's a bit hard to block the 2nd punch specially when your opponent is fast and pulls his punches right away. So most of the punches that you can block and anticipate is the 1st one. So counter punching and moving you head angle away from the right cross or reverse punch.

Why not just automatically mirror his stance and parry and rear hand strike and flow outside his lead hand and foot? That opens up the foot sweep or stepping on his front foot with your rear foot to cement dominance to make it harder for him to turn into you again. Coordinated hand techniques and footwork provide a flanking position.

Here's something you should avoid in fight on the street: Do not take any combat stance at the start instead focus on the moves you can do from any stance so if your opponents has some knowledge on martial arts you have surprise element which is always usefull.
