Hello! Great video! Can you tell me if this is the same procedure when you change the transmission oil cooler in a 987 ? I already changed the transmission oil cooler but I thing the system was not properly cleaned. Thank you!

Thanks for this - was great to meet you yesterday at the Abingdon track event. After putting my boxster round that track a few times, temperature was getting up towards the 100 mark, so thinking it might be worth giving this one a go over the weekend, especially since mine appears to have been doing less than 1000 miles per year from 2003-2017 (crazy right ? total mileage was 35K when I bought it, on a 2001 model) When you've tracked your boxster, what were the sort of temperatures you'd see when things were within expected ranges ? I've really got no frame of reference for this stuff, yesterday was my first track day. Thanks again for so many great videos.

Was great to meet you too! Thanks for your thoughts on the channel and thanks for watching! The temp gauge didn't move when i tracked mine - stayed in the middle. If yours is rising it could be leaves behind the bumper blocking the radiators. This is a common problems and wet leaves can cause the radiators to rot. Ben at Burner's Cars has a good video on this. The coolant should be changed every 5 years as the rust inhibitors stop working and the radiator will rust from the inside. So if it's been 5 years its worth doing. Be warned it's a big of a pig getting the lower radiator hoses off. I did it in winter so maybe a bit easier when it's hotter in the summer? Also I'd advise getting ramps for the back of the car as it's safer than trusting jack stands. The pink ready mixed coolant from Euro Car Parts is the one to get. Let me know how it goes! How was the car on the track?

I think I have air in the system, I replaced water pump and thermostat as well. But now my car is getting hot. Got it up to 96 degrees celsius and fans wouldn’t come on. I’m so frustrated with it. Any help would be great.

Clarification on Porsche coolant; it is sold by the gallon and needs to be mixed with deionized water usually in 1:1 ratio unless you live in hot climate like desert. So Porsche coolant isn't really that expensive as you only need to buy 1/2 required but you will also have to buy water and mix it.

Road and Race not yet But I check the temperature with the temperature gun. And show fine both hoses The hose from the thermostat outlet. And the the water pump. The shows around 165. The inner and outer heater hoses too. When i start the car the temperature gauge start going up the right way And i got the scanner connected to it waching the temperature too . But gauge and scanner show the right temperature But the temperature keep going up. But not with the gun . When the gauge and scanner show 220 the gun. Shows. 145. No hoses show more the 150.

I dis the bleeding process but this car is 6 speed. Manual. I dont know if makes difference. On the bleeding process. Fans working at slow. And high speed. But 1 thing that I notice is. After the coolant star boiling up. From the bleeding valve All the temperature in the hoses chance to 190 210

At 3:05 you say that removing fuse B1 disables the instrument cluster (which is actually the case) but then in your video at 3:09 the instruments are all on. Have I missed something? In KZbin videos everything looks so simple. Real life is different. No editing possible :-)

Thanks Fernando. I got the drain plug tools from Halfords here in the UK. Do you live in the UK? I think I reused the drain plug itself just used a new washer. Porsche can sell you the washers.

Road and Race thanks for your reply! I live in the UK, I'll check in Halfords for the tools and POC Nottingham for the washers! Thanks for the advice. I got a quote from a POC for doing couple of things on the car but after seen your videos (and their prices) I decided to dyi ... will be a challenge but good fun ... thanks for the inspiration 😂

Thank you for the video! I was wondering if removing those hoses is really necessary if we do a flush with distill water? IMO the coolant will be diluted anyways. BTW sad to see you're selling your Boxster :(
@RoadandRacetv
@RoadandRacetv 7 жыл бұрын
+Allen Hsu The hoses hold about half the total coolant so the first flush with water will only get about half of what's left out. You'd have to do two or three flushes to get most of it out. I guess that's less hassle just takes more time. Yes, I'll be sad to see her go but don't worry what I have next will be good. Trust me! 😁

Different manufacturers use different colours. It’s best to go to their website and check, most coolant makers have a checker tool. Comma in the UK is the one I use.

Bleeding these is such a pain in the ass. Stupidly engineered cooling system. I can bleed my Audi in no time at all. The Porsche is more like a whole day of running, cooling, bleeding, filling, repeat.
