The outro had my head spinning, you’re super talented at moving your ship. Meanwhile I’m still crashing into hangar walls.

At 0:56 Pitch and Yaw are reversed. Also, forward throttle is the same as forward strafe, all your strafes are throttles.

all movement is throttle/thrusters...

Excellent explanation of the TVI and its practical use. At 0:56, are YAW and PITCH labels reversed? Thanks for all your helpful videos!

Fuck me, yes it's reversed. Thank you!

This video should be in the new player guide. I had no idea this is what the TVI was doing.

Wow! you have got the best tutorials! I am a DCS World ( Enigma Cold War PVP server) player and I use Track IR, VKB Evo NXT stick and Thrustmaster TWCS throttle. I am trying out the Star Citizen. I don't have rudder pedals or a sim pit, I play in the living room on a 55 inch OLED. I use my X axis as a roll on the stick. I know everyone else is using is for Yaw. It's muscle memory, I can't mess is up for my DCS. As you recommended in your other video, I don't use twist function and I disabled the Z axis on the stick. I mapped YAW right and YAW left to the same hat switch on the throttle. I mapped strafe up and down on the same hat switch on the throttle. So, my stick is only for pitch and roll. I did not map strafe right and strafe left at all. I know you said it's very important, but I think I have enough to work with now. I can buy a second VKB stick (left handed) or an VKB Omni Throttle for the left hand, I just can't get the pedals, they won't fit where I sit in the living room. Before I invest into a second stick or Omni throttle, are the best players using the mouse in the right hand and the stick in the left? If that is the case, It is not fun to play this way. Basically, am I at disadvantage if I don't use a mouse? That was the case with War Thunder in 2014 and I stopped playing it. Gotta have my stick for flight/space sims. I found the Star Citizen's flight model pretty incredible. Very high skill ceiling. This is not Elite Dangerous flight model.

the bit with the TVI radar blew my mind. I have been playing since this time last year and it never dawned on me what that was and honestly total game changer. i just ordered a set of VKB sticks and i cannot wait to go back through all of your videos and start relearning everything :O

Great vid! I appreciate your system specs added to captions, but can you do a desk tour for those of us that want a walkthrough of the whole shebang (and wanna marvel further and try emulating the superclean visuals).

Tobii or trackir5?
@JohnathanWinters Жыл бұрын
Tobii, but I recommend trackir unless ur only interested in head tracking for SC.
@jixer1495 Жыл бұрын
@@JohnathanWinters I am primarily only playing SC. I currently have track ir and have a few issues with it from time to time, still learning how to work out the kinks(main issue is trackir randomly crashes from time to time and it crashes SC with it). Only thing holding me from getting tobii was hearing AvengerOne say tobii was less responsive and as someone that likes pvp, that sounds like a killer for tobii. Do u have any input on any differences based on their responsiveness?
@JohnathanWinters Жыл бұрын
@@jixer1495 It is 2ms slower, I use trackIR for DCS tobii for SC. I rather not have something on my head when playing and for Star citizen Tobii works perfectly. DCS though, tobii is trash. That said you should not be crashing when using trackIR something is def wrong. I'd look into completely uninstalling trakir using revo uninstaller and then Cclean to run a full registry clean, before reinstalling TrackIR.

Totally unrelated (sorry), but how are you getting such crisp, vivid colors? I've been struggling with color settings in SC since day-one, despite having a great video card and gaming monitor. Feel like I'm missing something obvious (unless you're using ReShade, which I've not looked into yet).

I was confused as in the beginning w/s were named as strafe but on the picture it was more of a throttle/brake? Nevertheless, this is the best and informative stuff I've seen. Now I'm going to learn flying in decoupled mode, I now lose all my dogfights
@JohnathanWinters Жыл бұрын
It's because it's not good to think of forward and back as throttle or brake. In space it is just another strafe direction, which influences your vector differently depending on which direction you are facing.
