Why would engine 1 & 2 generator switches be "on" before actually starting the engines ? I would think generators only turned on after engines have spooled up. In the sim - even cold / dark - generator switches already "on" ? Also not sure what Standby By power switch (to left of generator switches) - actually engages ? I need to do more study time..... Great video, thank you
@thecorporatepilotdad Жыл бұрын
Generator switches should be on prior to start but could remain in the off position and turned on after start. Generators will not be connected to the system until a particular N2 RPM. When that RPM is reached, the generator will come online automatically. Standby power turns on the standby attitude indicator above the MFD.

In several C700 checklists I have found, I see Fuel Shutoff Valve (CLOSED/OPEN) and Auto Ground Spoilers (NORM/ARMED). I am not finding controls for these in the sim model, can you please advise?
@thecorporatepilotdad Жыл бұрын
If during preflight, the checklist could be alluding to the L/R fire push button on the panel which would activate the hydraulic and fuel shutoff valves which could be open/closed but are not modeled. The only other option would be the run/stop guarded switches next to the starter buttons. Spoilers are automatic on touchdown and will retract automatically as well when speed drops on rollout. I’m working on systems videos (for Private Pilot tier) channel members and spoilers will be covered in flight controls. The fuel system will be next. The goal is to upload one system per week depending on my flying schedule.

do you know why my cruise altitude isn't showing up on my Flight Plan page next to my waypoints? its just blank and I need to add it as a altitude restriction
@thecorporatepilotdad10 ай бұрын
Cruise altitude shouldn’t show up on the flight plan page in the flight plan target altitude column. Altitudes that do show up are altitudes published on a chart (SID/STAR/Approach) where a specific altitude at a waypoint is published. If using VNAV, the altitude selector is always limiting. Video 2 and 3 in this series have more VNAV explanations.
@jacks344610 ай бұрын
@@thecorporatepilotdad It’s because i had a discontinuity in my flight plan. Usually when I set my altitude selector to cruise it will put my enroute waypoints to that altitude which in turn gives me a T/D
@thecorporatepilotdad10 ай бұрын
@@jacks3446 that will do it. One thing I do IRL flying(or try to do every time), is go through the legs page and look for unnecessary discontinuities. They are needed on departures/arrivals that terminate on a heading or course to be flown. Sometimes the FMS will add a disc. between the last enroute fix before the start of an arrival which can be deleted.
@jacks344610 ай бұрын
@@thecorporatepilotdad I am curious though, do i need to add my arrival/approach in order to get my TD or no? Whenever I don’t do that, I have no TD shown.
@thecorporatepilotdad10 ай бұрын
@@jacks3446 No, a random altitude can be added at a waypoint. Watch video #2. An altitude needs to be connected to a waypoint, a lower altitude selected, and VNAV selected on the flight guidance panel in order for VNAV to work. If a waypoint has an altitude and VNAV is armed a TOD will be visible unless the aircraft has already passed the point where that 3 degree slope intersects with your altitude.

I'm unclear on RAT. I thought RAT is Ram Air Turbine used for emergency. But at @4:54 it inserts temperature?
@thecorporatepilotdad Жыл бұрын
Ram air temperature is also RAT. This RAT is is the temperature the aircraft feels moving through the air and comes into effect at higher speeds. The Concorde skin at Mach 2 could reach 120 degrees C. This is RAT. If an aircraft is stationary RAT and static air temperature will be equal.

Thanks very much for the video. I never knew he CAS up and down as well as the full entry of the weights etc. Since the update I have an issue where by the Citation Longitude cant maintain speed whilst climbing, reduces to almost 130knts from about FL330 to FL400. Auto throttle is on and should be hitting about 300knts (Mach 0.8) according to the AT setting. Any thoughts why this might be doing it? Rate of climb is 2000 feet per min, but i need to reduce it down to about 300 feet per/min so it doesn't stall. Confirmed both engines are working.
@thecorporatepilotdad Жыл бұрын
My guess is you’re in VS mode and not FLC for the climb. Auto throttles will try to give all the power they have to maintain 300 knots or whatever speed is set. Once max power is reached, the airplane wont maintain speed beyond that point and if maintaining too steep of a climb, the airplane will slow down. In FLC, the aircraft will adjust pitch to maintain 300 and work with the AT system to hold whatever vertical speed needed to still maintain an indicated speed. Hopefully that is the answer to your question.
@bikesandbits1000 Жыл бұрын
@@thecorporatepilotdad Thanks I will give that a try. Yes I have been using VS, which from what I have now read is incorrect for climbing

@thecorporatepilotdad7 ай бұрын
I will try to duplicate this on my sim. What airport and departure were you using? Whenever using the flight director be sure to look at the standby modes (in white) to see what the FD will do next. You’ll want to see ALT or VALTV for the airplane to level at the altitude selector or flight plan target altitude (VNAV altitude in magenta) respectively.

What is a rolling takeoff? Don't the wheels always roll when you take off? 😅 (Legitimate question tho)
@thecorporatepilotdad Жыл бұрын
Normal takeoff = setting takeoff power then brake release. Rolling takeoff is adding power to takeoff power as the airplane is rolling down the runway. 500’ is added to the takeoff distance for rolling takeoffs at least for Cessna jets.
