3. No catapult was used until the Wright Flyer II in the fall on 1904 in Ohio where there was substantially less wind than on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean.

Question. Why not just have an engine that performs the same way a fixed pitch works and then just add a variable pitch lever to simplify things? You set your desired pitch and then fiddle with the rpm when needed. Set the prop for takeoff, then set rpm. In the climb, just alter rpm as necessary. In cruise, set cruise propeller then fiddle with the rpm as necessary and same thing for descent and landing. Would that not be simpler than all this overstated undersquared stuff? I'm a pilot in training, and constant speed gives me a headache to use and understand. I assume it annoys other people too, that's why new planes come with single lever operation.

is there still a sonic boom at 250.000 feet ?or enough air to feed ramjets ? most ramjets i found online are operation in 20-30 km alt. range ....250.000 is 83 km ....there is likely no air to feed the scrams

Well, on a scale from full stop to light speed, mach 10 is actually slow
@kaystephan261010 күн бұрын
Mach 10 is slightly more than 2 miles per second. Say "21" and imagine while you say that you travel 2 miles.

Okay, thank you for the short and concise explanations, quick question though: What if you're already in flight, as in never inputted anything into the FMC for a purely manual experience, and you want to set a GPS NAV destination? I've gotten to filling out the DEST field and such, but my ORIGIN field is blank, what would I put there to avoid discontinuity errors in the route? Would the airport that I started out of be the answer, even though I'm over 1500 miles from that location already?
@thecorporatepilotdad15 күн бұрын
It may not be the case still, but in MSFS, the departure point can’t be entered if in the air. The points in front of the airplane would be the only ones that matter. Discontinuities happen and they are used to differentiate the end of the departure, enroute phase, and the arrival. An arrival or departure can end on a heading or course to be flown to expect vectors after the last fix. That is when discontinuities are needed. If they were deleted the airplane would just fly to the next fix in the FMS instead of flying the heading or course down at the end of the arrival or departure. In MSFS without ATC, discontinuities can be deleted if desired.

It still is a thing but NDBs are very rare. They are not hard. Bearing pointers are still in airplanes with glass cockpits and they operate the same way.
