Ammo cannot go in the same case as the firearm. It needs to be in the original box or hard case designed for ammunition and goes separately in your luggage. It can be in the same luggage, but not in the same lockbox.

Not required at this time but this may change, so it’s wise to review your airline’s firearm policy and TSA’s firearm policies before flying. Additionally, research the gun and magazine laws of the states you’ll be visiting to ensure compliance. TSA’s full disclosure can be read on their website and book marked for future reference: www.tsa.gov/travel/transporting-firearms-and-ammunition. It’s important to note that ammunition must be in original packaging from the manufacturer or in packaging specifically designed to carry small amounts of ammunition.

TSA allows for ammo to be sperate or locked in same box… each airline sets that rule.

TSA allows ammo in the mag as long as it won't come loose

I’ve flown United with a firearm in checked baggage. No issues whatsoever.

@infomwr when was the last time. I have tried at least three times and had to remove my life pod from my checked luggage and put in my car. They now have bold signs and their apps says no firearms.

You can travel with firearms and ammunition if they’re in checked bags, secure, and declared. You are not allowed to transport your firearm in your carry-on bag. Before traveling start by familiarizing yourself with your airline’s firearm policy and TSA’s firearm policies. These can vary, so it’s wise to review them before each flight. Additionally, research the gun and magazine laws of the states you’ll be visiting to ensure compliance. TSA’s full disclosure can be read on their website and book marked for future reference: www.tsa.gov/travel/transporting-firearms-and-ammunition
