Excellent suggestion with the picture wire as it was both pliable and stiff enough to grab that catch. I also used a wedge between the backrest and window frame to get some clearance, then a bright light. Looking through the rear window I guided it right in place and it popped. I will jimmy up a better release cord now. Thanks again!

I have a 2015 F250 Lariat Super screw. I had to fold the bottom seat up all the way which makes the back move forward where you can to get your hand in. On the left side of the latch, there is a round silver pin that can be pulled up. The trick is, you have to release the bottom seat just enough, then you can pull the silver tab on the back latch. To latch the back in, have the bottom seat half way down a bit, or slide the latch catch up or down to help.

If you take the lower drivers side seat bolt out, the (13mm) one, the lower corner of the rear seat tilts in and the upper passenger side tilts out and you can reach the latch easily. This takes about 2 minutes to do. Then attach an extension to the latch release long enough to hang over the front of the seat and your all set.

Thanks. I’ll try that.

FYI, Supercab isn't like Supercrew. The seat back doesn't move at all when you fold the seat bottom. No at all, nada, zilch. So, I wasted an hour trying different ways to reach down in there. So, I was trying to grab the pin from the wrong side. Again, a Supercab the mechanism is different than the youtube vids I've seen. So, let me tell you audience who to do it... now, if you have a Supercab like mine (2018 XLT) just removed the mounting bolt for the seat back that on the drivers side. Just that one bolt... then you pull on the upper left of the seat (facing rearward) which kicks the lower corner rearward and a nice gap opens up for you to reach in there. Had I thought of that sooner, it would have been a piece of cake. I drilled the pin and have a wire tied off at the headrest for future.

It was never made to be used as extra storage. The backseat latch was made for the seatback to come loose for recovering upholstery only. That’s why the latch is so hard to get to. It’s not even written in the owner manual.

@@dcfgarage They an ok engine if you know all the quirks they have they're very reliable or can be but there are a number of things you must know for them to give you the longevity one expects. My biggest gripe is there are NO performance parts for it. Like nothing past CIA and exhaust.
@dcfgarage3 жыл бұрын
@@mds1986ms The 2ARFE engine is great. However, because of the pursuit of lower emissions and fuel economy, Toyota and other auto makers have started using piston rings that have lower friction. The trade off is that it also wears out faster. My guess is that the previous owner did extended oil changes. Instead of doing it every 5k, it probably got replaced every 10k or 15k. I don't think a PCV valve or a blown head gasket would cause such high oil consumption and given that you're engine is 180k, you probably have work out rings... but this is just a guess. You would have to take the engine apart, which is probably not worth financially.

After jumping it, and turning it off, I could hear a slight power source (something running), which I believe is slowly draining the battery, located somewhere behind the back seat(on the driver's side. It's a 2015. I believe the newer models tilt the back of the seat when you pull up the bottom and it allows you to put your hands back there. In 2015 Ford engineers hadn't figured out that would be a problem yet. They must have small hands.

Thanks for posting that ! I tried to figure that out today. Brilliant design by some designer engineer idiot at Ford. WHY? I'll be glad when my lease is up! Not happy with a lot of stuff on these new Ford trucks. Doors making noise. Tailgate locks when you get out and leave truck running to put something in the back. Dumbass auto start stop. Glove compartment is a joke. The back suicide doors don't cooperate, seems like they don't stop at the right place when you open them. 10 speed Transmission never stops shifting and lags in between gears, I feel like it's going to give out anytime. But, I love the power from the 3.5 Ecoboost. Ford, you need to make your vehicles more practical and quit worrying about the display screen that you didn't even put the friggin' date on ! And all the other crap !! Going Dodge

Hey Jim. Mine is a 6 speed xlt. So it doesn’t have most os the problems yours has. I completely hear you... I don’t think I’ll get a new F150. I would probably switch to the ram 2500 with the cummings. I wouldn’t get a ram 1500 though... I had that before and It was an electrical nightmare
@dougbrown21824 жыл бұрын
The auto stop is easy to diasble with forscan or better yet a tuner which makes the 3.5 a lot more fun. Tailgate lock may be in forscan also, haven't looked. The trans lag I only notice when I granny foot the gas, use a tad more and don't notice it. Guess I have never wanted to check the date on the radio in any vehicle so never noticed that. I looked at all "big 3" trucks and the Ford won out and I came from a GMC.
