It should be mentioned that cutting the hooks may impact the seat performance in a collision. Something to consider.

Sure! As always do it at your own risk, i have seen guys stack washers under the bottom bracket to raise the seat up, leaving less threads to bite. I saw a video of this method and thought it was better than the alternative

Racing your seat up is more safe 4 sure all u have to do is if lifting ur seat up 1" go get new bolts and add an inch to it make sure you get the same strength grade of the bolts that's what u did with mine and didn't go to home Depot for bolts went to the store ware house suppliers to be sure to get same strength grade or even stronger ones and they do it for you I mean they get the right bolt strength grade for you I'm just saying​@@DakotaNationRacing

cut mine off at the plastic and still doesn't clear, still needs 3/8 more removed, are you running washers/spacers under your seat, or did you cut more off than what's in the video?

Nope, I only cut what i showed in the video! You have to lift the bottom of the seat up about halfway or so for the back rest to snap into place! Hope that helps!

@DakotaNationRacing Yes I'm aware of the position the bottom of the seat has to be in👍. I found out it has to do with the year the truck was made, 09-11 (mines a 10) you have to cut just past the plastic square instead of right before it, wich ends up being a little less than 1/2 an inch more than you had to remove. I don't know if it's because people were using washers, etc. to raise the back seat (nothing to do with folding them down) but Dodge changed the rear seat height at some point after 2011. Appreciate the reply!

@DakotaNationRacing I have an 18 Big Horn, and it has mad storage pockets, so I won't need the little bit of space it gives to cut the hangers. I'm installing seat covers that will be a such a pain to do without easy access behind the seat. It's a dumb setup, honesty. I release would have been thoughtful.

Should of been designed this way from factory. Engineers just don't think ahead or care about functionality these days. Kind of like those little cubbies on the lower sides of the center console that you can't even get your fingers in. 😂 Luckily this is a simple fix thanks to your vid so ty. If only I had done this before I made the truck spotless going to make another mess cutting steel. Only place not spotless is behind the seat where dog hair and dust hides.

I’m at safelite replacing my back window 2015 dodge ram 1500 big horn and they have to remove the back seat wish I would of done this MOD before for sure I will be doing after they finish

Unfortunately as far as im aware no, the mega cabs have that extra space behind the back seat so i know the back seats can recline in my dad’s longhorn!

I would say no, the only real advantage of doing this is putting things on the floor once you get the back down, not sure if you could fit a gun rack back there!

No i didn’t, i had a stereo shop do it for me! They just added an amp and 2 10” subs in that box, everything else is stock for now. Sorry i wish i could help more!

Im not sure about that! Not a lot of room back there, i have 2 10’s under the back seat in my truck. I think unless you have a mega cab, trying to stuff subs back there might be tough!

Yes, its only around the 3/4 lift point of the bottom seat will the backrest fold down. If they are all way up they should still be locked in place

The sub box? My local stereo shop installed all that for me, you can buy a box setup online for around $300ish that fits under your seat!

You think if i did a 2" seatlift my seat will still be able to lock back down? I usually keep my seats up at all times but wanna do 2" lift for proper airspace for my box and didnt know if i do a 2" it will still latch down and not fall down if i was to hit my brakes. I heard with 1.5" lift it still latches down and wanna make sure it still will if i do a 2" thanks for the help

Im not %100 sure unfortunately! With the 2” it might barely hold on still, but id have to try it to know for sure! I just ride around with my seat up most of the time as well!

@DakotaNationRacing yeah I talked with a guy cuse I seen he had a 2" lift and that's what he told me it barley catches and holds it up but he jus bent the back bracket up a little and made sure it catches really good. So think ima go ahead with a 2" lift cuse I wanna get atleast 2 cubes net volume after sub and port displacement for my subs.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should. I'm no expert but there's likely a bigger reason they didn't do this from the factory. I figure it's related to safety in a major accident. I wouldn't want to be in that seat if it was modified like that and be in a serious accident. But to each their own.

Yep! Unfortunately thats the only way, i’ve seen guys take the back seat out and stack washer underneath the bolts but then you only have a few threads holding your seat down so this is the better way i’ve found!
