This was the one. Saw so many videos that said "power and volume up", which didn't do anything, but "power and volume down" to get to the boot menu worked, and entered recovery mode, then the next time it restarted, it worked. Thank you!

I like that I can understand this man and that there is no annoying backround music. None of these suggestions worked for me though. When I went to start screen there was no input, just that blinking screen. My devices back cover and battery are non-removable. :-(

this was great tutorial and easy to follow along. it worked after taking the battery out. however, upon restarting, the battery showed it was at a constant 3%. no charging cable worked nor would it show that it was charging yet the port, charger, n cable would stay burning up really bad. so I had to find videos for that issue. one option was to charge while on the fastboot screen. started a bit later in order to check if it was working. it now says it's at 30% but now the restarting loop returned! tried your video again, no dice. it just may be a battery issue. idk if I'll need to buy a new one or to just wipe out the phone n see what happens. either way, just wanted you to know that your video helped out when it had. thank you for posting!

What I did was boot into safe mode and then went into Settings, Applications and found the app I was using at the time my phone went wonky. In my case it was Google Chrome. I clicked on Storage and then cleared the Cache and the Storage for that app, Rebooted my phone as normal and it works again. To boot into safe mode: Press and hold the Power button until 'Power off' appears on the screen then release. Touch and hold Power off until the 'Reboot to safe mode' prompt appears (approximately 1 second). From the 'Reboot to safe mode' prompt, tap OK to confirm. ... With Safe Mode enabled, test device and app functionality. Also, in Recovery mode you can try clearing the cache instead of resetting, this doesn't affect your data or erase any of your apps, it just clears all of the cached data for your apps so if an app is holding onto some bad data in its cached this will be cleared out. Hope this saves somebody the trouble of resetting. Also, most phones will not allow you to pull the back off and remove the battery. You'd have to take your phone to a phone shop for that. One more thing - I leave my phone in USB Debugging Mode in case I need to connect the phone to the computer and transfer files I need before a hard reset or try to use adb tools to fix the phone. If its not in debugging mode then you can't use external programs to try and fix your phone. To enable debugging mode go to Settings, System, Build and tap Build 7 times. This enables Developer mode. In Developer Mode scroll down to USE Debugging and turn it on. Please note that this makes your phone less secure if it is stolen as the thief can gain access to your data the same way you can through a computer and external programs. since I've not had my phone stolen but have experienced many many phone problems like this and have been saved by having USB Debugging enabled it has been worth it to me to keep it enabled.
