Enjoy your videos, and think I’ll just sit on my latest update, and enjoy my beautiful screens that I have. I’m running 93sv uhd w/56 on stern, uhd is on console. Plain 93 sv plus on bow and networking together. Don’t need to mess up what’s good, so will hold off on new updates, when mine are more plain than any Humminbird or Lowrance I’ve seen. Kentucky

I used ActiveCaptain the first 3 updates on all 3 of my 93uhd’s. This last update it would not complete the update. I then did the SD card method and will never go back. I sure wish I would have saved the old update.. But from now on I will have a file with labeled 8 gig SD cards.. Thanks GG for all this info.. I also want your 93sv uhd..😁

Love your vids. I have a Echomap 105sv Ultra with the 56gt uhd . I also have the lvs10 livescope 34 on a separate power switch connected to the same unit. Do I need to turn on my livescope when updating the head unit?

Thanks for all that you do! I have updated my 1222 to the 26.10. Did not like it. Gave the 26.20 version a try. It was worse. Voids, blank spots. I have tried all your suggestions and even messed with the focus. No improvement. I want to force update to version 25.30. Do you have a good/reliable source where I can download it from? Have you personally forces updates to an earlier version? If so, was it what you had before?

Thanks for the video. Very informative. I am having a continual loop process indicating software updates available that halts in an error when it tries to perform a map update. Therefore, I was hoping a forced update might solve the issue. 93sv UHD with lvs32. I got through the process to the Starting Recovery Process page and it stays there. How long should it stay there before the next screen for loading software appear? It’s been a while and I’m thinking something is wrong.

I removed the card and reinserted it. That worked. I finally had a Garmin person dig into my issue of the map update error. They indicated several users have reported an issue with Active Captain indicating that a software update was available when the unit was up to date. They are working on a fix.

Do you have to insert new SD card in unit for it to compete the formatting process or can all the formatting be done from computer? I have an echo map UHD 93SV. My boat is stored at the lake about 45 mins away.

I did all mine on the computer but you can also format from the unit

@@The_Garmin_Guru I tried the update over the weekend. Went through the steps for the UHD 93SV. It said to turn off unit, put new card in, hold down power and #4, release power button when Garmin logo appears and then release #4 when Recovery Loader ready appears. I do all of this and then the unit just sits on this screen. It did not begin the update process. Luckily this did not wipe out the software that is already on it!

Yes sir I do. But I have done a couple updates lately with the active Captain and they have gone flawlessly but they definitely take longer

Nice video but I am not sure why your going through all these steps. Once you download the update to your SD card just insert it into your garmin unit and power it up. It will update it automatically. No need to unzip, or do all the steps you did holding power and up arrow. Correct me if I am wrong if the GPSMAP unit is different from my 126 sv that I use.

This was a video done before the latest process was implemented. This video was done last January after several people were upset over the January 22 update and wanted to go back to a previous update version. I’ve since published updated videos showing the new method for updating.

Hi.....hope you don't mind me asking. I have the June 2022 update on a SD card. I don't like the April 6, 2023 update. Are their any special steps to downloading a prior version? Garmin support told me today it could not be done, but others have told me they've done it successfully. I appreciate your time.

Thanks for sharing. I had a major problem updating today through active captain on my 943xs plus. I was successful in getting the new software update through to the gpsmap via active captain. After, I put in a new chip upgrade I purchased, the vision +. Once that was done, i loaded the software and it caused some error. I received all these crazy red “x’s” and now I’m going to try to do the forced update to reset it back. I’ve downloaded the software through the garmin site to my computer and uploaded it to a sd card.8gb… today I was using a 32gb when I had a problem. Very bizarre

@@The_Garmin_Guru I followed your instructions, downloaded it to a card last night. When I moved the file into the micro sd (Apple computer) it took about 30 minutes to transfer. I didn’t get that garmin pop up window that you did once it completed where you followed through a few screens. It just shows the file “updates”

The software revision on garmin site is still for the new version 19, by forcing a pervious revision wouldn't you need the 18.2? Trying to follow you and reading the garmin force instructions I may be misunderstanding. Correct me, so the card you just downloaded from the garmin site is the is the 19? If by forcing you had just put the same version in the unit? I can't find the right revision on the garmin site.

You’re speaking of the echo maps update bud. It is the 19. The 26 is for the gpsmap series. Sorry I should have clarified that.

So I'm trying to do this force update. You and the Garmin website says to hold down the up button until hold or holding boot block appears. That didn't appear on your screen. Yours is doing the same thing mine does. It says recovery loader ready? From there my screen will not do anything else. I'm waiting on Garmin to call me back now

Keep holding the up key until it turns red and says starting recovery update. It was a little different than the website

It gave me the extra all option and took probably 5min to download to the SD card. Just tried to force the update again and it still just saying recovery loader ready.
