FYI, I had the same water leak problem every time I went through a car wash with my Mustang. Water would pour in through the front passenger-side air vent and flood the carpet. I discovered the water leak was caused by the clogged rubber drain valve at the bottom of the compartment where the air filter is located. If you clean out the debris that collects in the bottom of the compartment below the air filter and unplug the rubber drain valve, some people just remove the rubber valve and leave it out, your internal water leak problem should be fixed. It took me two years to figure this out. Hope it helps you enjoy your Mustang!

you can make your life easier by turning your car off with the wipers mid cycle.

Best guide for changing air filter! Better angles than CJ Pony Parts video.

Two points: as another reviewer noted, to make cowl removal much easier, do put the wiper blades in an up position. Also, it might not be visible without a flashlight, but the end of the screw (pointed end) is actually inside of the partially open bottom “v” part of the clip. The end of the screw itself isn't exposed. A small screwdriver, preferably slotted, needs to go into the open “v” of the clip, and then be pushed up on the screw. Then, the screw will come out, followed by the clip removal. At least on my 2013 V6, that is the case. Other than those small points, a helpful video.

The job is easier if you put the wipers in the upright position and turn off the ignition so they stay out of the way.

WAY better than the CJ Pony Parts install vid!

The video where they show how you don't have to rip the entire panel out and then re-install it just to change the filter? lol Just saying this is an added step that isn't necessary. Just pop the 2 plastic screws, pull the panel up and pull the filter out and you're set.

Thanks guys, no need to pay to have this done when it's that easy. But, leave it to Ford to make the cowl harder to remove than the filter. :)

Your original filter (like the one in my 2012 Mustang) had the arrow pointing to the dirty side. Does that mean the filters were backwards from the factory? I vacuumed mine (because I am cheap) with a micro attachment on my vac and reinstalled with the same backwards filter orientation. I think the orientation is not that important unless you reuse since you don't want to reverse it once it has already trapped dust on one side. The bracket can only be seated one way with the gasket pointing to the rear. You properly removed the panel, but on another video someone else merely loosened the panel and squeezed the filter and bracket through the gap which could rip the delicate gasket. Also while you are at it, clean the trough behind the firewall and in front of the filter. Mine had a 1" layer of leaf particles and debris which could get sucked up by the clean filter. Strangely my 2011 F150 does not have a cabin air filter system.

Yes. If the arrow was pointing to the dirty side then it was backwards.

Dr MitoFit - CJPony parts how to video did the same exact thing. So is Ford installing them all incorrect or perhaps these two installers are wrong about the direction of the airflow. I have not replaced mine yet so I cannot confirm either way

Ok so then CJ pony parts installed theirs backwards?

I don't understand. the air conditioning system filter take air flow from the outside? that's Why is nasty. I was thinking the cool air flow was recycle inside the car🤔🤔🤔🤔
@steveaustin45654 жыл бұрын
Depends on how you have your AC set. The switch with the recycling arrows on it on your AC settings switch can be set to recycle the interior air or cool exterior air as it comes into the cabin. Check your manual:)
