Just found your video. I like this way of doing it rather than forging out the inside of the fork. I made my first hook yesterday and realizes I need a bending fork. That will be my afternoon project

Nice. The best tutorials have commentary instead of just a vid of you doing the thing. Explain the steps. Love it. Thanks

Does drawing the handle out to a round matter? I draw it out to a tapered square so that I can use and end wrench to keep it perpendicular or square. It also helps knowing where square is. It's also handy to make a straight fork where you put the loop. Thank you very much for your video. I learned a lot. I like the way you split the for instead of upsetting it. Much faster and just as good.

The handle is entirely up to who is using it. I normally use all of my tools as is so I make them more ergonomic.

Its refreshing to see a professional drop their work. It makes me feel a little less of a klutz. Id like to see a hold down tool or a spring fuller being made.

Very nice! Because this is used to bend hot stock, can it be made from mild steel? The video shows almost a yellow heat. Is that accurate? Thanks again. Jerry
@colinroy9988
@colinroy9988 7 жыл бұрын
A rule of thumb is that the metal always looks hotter in the video than it actually is. That being said i am forging it at a bright yellow and it is made from mild steel. If you were bending some real big stock you might want to use 1045, but mild is fine for these the majority of the time

@@colinroy9988 Good to hear all is well. I really have enjoyed the content here. After about 12 failed attempts at making a set of tongs I think I finally saw what I needed in your video. Man has got to make a living first so if you're able to post new content you can be assured I'll watch it if not that's ok to. Thanks again for responding. Merry Christmas.
