About me:
Hi! My name is Philip and one of the people behind Lufolk. I have always been interested in the simple things in life. When I look back on history I get inspired and fascinated by the people who came up with all the smart solutions to make our everyday life easier. What you can accomplish with a few tools and great skills is impressive. The first time I got that feeling: I made this! This will be useful! Was when I made a wooden spoon as a kid. And think that was the start, I have ever since been interested in making things.

Love the Viking style. I have what is probably a silly question though… What was the purpose of the final heat and quench at the end? Great work 👍
@lufolkcrafts
@lufolkcrafts Жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! No silly questions! ask and you will learn :) I am quenching it in linseed oil in order to prevent oxidation and also make the pendant black. in order to do so the piece needs to be about 300 degrees celsius so the oil burns. Do you forge as well?

@@lufolkcrafts I see, that makes sense. Thanks for explaining, and it also answers the question I've always wondered which is how people get their pieces to go that nice black colour. I don't forge but it's something I'm interested in and I did go to a blacksmithing experience day once. I made a Viking-style/blacksmith-style knife and really enjoyed the day.

Amazing! What is the object that you produced in the sand mold?
@lufolkcrafts
@lufolkcrafts 11 ай бұрын
Thanks! I used sand mold to cast the brass piece that the dragon is holding. This pendant is inspired by a saga, and in that saga it is a dragon who is guarding gold. So this is a picture of that.
