Using clay before you forge is so obvious once you see it, faster, no wasted material on experiments, no blood sweat and tears tossed into the scrap pile because the idea doesn't work, I've watched a LOT of forging videos, never seen it before! Thanks!

Your use of clay before forging is something master smiths have encouraged for eons, but almost nobody does it. That's too bad, because it's easier to recover from mistakes in clay than it is in steel. I will definitely be making some donkey hooks! I bet they'll sell well.
