Rory - I wish I had found your channel when I was first getting started. You make this look easy man. I finally got hooks down OK, but some of your pointers are rally going to help, so thank you! I appreciate the delivery of information - good solid info presented in a straightforward and fun way. Maybe I will start a new channel to document my blacksmithing progress (since I am still very green). Cheers!

Holy Stuff Rory, I'm really glad I found your channel, because I'm very new to blacksmithing but not fabrication (40+ yr.). having a blast learning, maybe someday I can make a dollar or 2 forging. if I keep watching you and some of the other good smith's, and spending more time at the anvil I will. thanks man,

I wanted to add, the explanation of the center line of the hook was real important. I didn't think of that. I would've scratched my head wondering why my stuff want hanging correctly. I'm sure that many people didn't consider that if they where honest!

Rory, I really like your approach/design on the trammel. Strong and functional. About the best I've seen. Maybe an alternative to fullering the top of the hook that goes into the slots...how about just making a short u-shaped hook in place of the upset tip? If you don't upset the tip, you could also thread it through the bottom hole and not worry about it being too big to pass through. One would have to make sure the u-shaped hook was wide enough to thread/twist past the sides of the bottom hole.

Very nice design on this. One question. You said the upset end needs to be smaller than the hole or else it won't fit through. Couldn't you simply thread the hook end through the hole?
