I was one of seven children, second to last and the only girl. When my mother was dying I told my sister-in-law that I needed to feel some kind of closure, some kind of closeness before she dies. My sister-in-law suggested I ask my mom if I could brush her hair. I assumed my sister-in-law told her bcuz when I got home my mom said can you brush my hair. What a blessing it was to simply brush her hair and feel close. We didn't even talk but I knew she loved me and I hope she knew I loved her. Thank you Jesus 🙏

This concept of only being able to forgive if our pain is turned into compassion reminds me of the law of conservation - energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to another. Scientific evidence to support this video :)

I was talking to a guy at work yesterday who was open to the idea of God but felt frustrated from another Christian telling him that he MUST forgive of his mother. I personally know the feeling and struggle but as real life evangelism goes you never get to say the things you want to say, especially in the right way. I'll make sure to internalized this along with Sr. Miriam's quote "We forget that our mother or father also has a story"

A beautiful sentiment but it should be mentioned that for survivors of parental abuse, forgiveness and compassion may need to look like low or no contact, especially for a parent that refuses to acknowledge their abuse. Allowing yourself to continue in a sick relationship only hurts your dignity and allows for the continued sinful abuse from the parent.

Yes they DO have a story.....but.....they are also accountable for their actions and inactions. Grace does not overlook someone choosing to live in rebellion to God and hurt all those around. In fact those that profess Christ and continue to live in disobedience we are not to even eat with them. So compassion for the parent yes, that may be the best they could offer at the time. But let's not excuse their lifetime of sin and lack of repentance just because we can understand it. Sin is so bad Jesus had to die for it

Exactly! I spent several years in counseling dealing with the repercussions from having been raised by toxic parents. I knew that they were wounded and their parents inflicted wounds on them and so on and so with the generational sins. It's not that I expected them to be perfect, but what wounded me the most was their pride and lack of humility in accepting their sinfulness and wounds and doing something about it and continuing the hurt. Remember God said to the Israelites after wandering around the dessert for 40 years..."Are you going to LEARN from your ancestors?"

I think many times it is the other way around, parents are rejected and left behind and abandoned especially within the current times… counselors are telling our children, that if they vote in a way that is wrong to them, then the parents are toxic, so dump them…terrible

Years ago I forgave my sister for deeply hurting me. I earnestly asked for God’s help and to my almost amazement the pain simply was swallowed up by grace. Later I had the opportunity to spend several days with her and was astonished that the person I always thought she was didn’t exist, my eyes and heart were opened to the beautiful person she is. Praise God that he released me from the chains of unforgiving.

I had a dead beat biological dad. He passed away last year. I was a little over a year old when my parents divorced. He wasn't hardly ever in my life. I had not spoken to him in years. God has judged him now. I do pray for his soul. He wasn't Catholic. Neither one of my parents are. I'm a convert. My mother is still alive. Have nothing to do with her. I do pray for her. Someone relayed a message to her that I love her, but don't like her. That's how I feel. She is narcissistic beyond measure. I don't think me not contacting her is bothering as I'm not her favorite. She's poisonous. Being around my family makes me sinful. So I stay away from the to avoid the near occasion of sin. I don't hate them. I love them from a distance. I think God understands.

My issue with the idea of forgive and forget is if it's asking us to forget the wrong or mistake, how does that make sense in terms of seeing if the other has learned and grow from it? Yes. You can forgive. But if you forget what was done, then every time the same wrong or mistake happens, it'll be as if it was the first time.

Hanging on the cross, Jesus said,”Forgive them Father, for they do not know what they do”. When said and done from the heart, it’s very healing for oneself. Setting them free also .

Not Catholic but want to give my 2 cents as a Baptist. I was controlled completely by my parents until I left home, and they tried to control me after I left. Haven't talked to them in over a year now. They blamed everything on me and would never take accountability. They flipped out when they learned I was talking to a woman and forbid me from contacting her (now we're married and happy). As much as I want to work things out with them I don't think I can. I've tried to forgive and even an elder and mentor in Christ has recommended I leave them alone for now.

@@CaesarGB don’t let people confuse forgiveness and reconciliation. Reconciliation happens when the victim forgives in their heart, and the offender properly repents. If they don’t repent you have no obligation to reconcile.

@zacharypotvin6579 I don't even believe Protestants are Christian at all. Like a mustard seed of faith can move mountains, the mustard seed of doubt they implant in others about Mary is designed to create doubt in Christianity itself. Satanists don't go for Jesus Himself. That would be too obvious, but if they can make you believe there's nothing special about The Mother of God. Then the mustard seed of doubt is planted. You are right not to respect protestants, they are satanists.

i don’t know why this book is so hard to find, but after finally getting Vibrations of Manifestation by Alex Lane, i get why they don’t want this out there. it breaks down exactly why most people stay stuck, and once you see it, you can’t unsee it. since reading it, my whole life has shifted. the secrets inside are worth the effort.
