I had shoulder surgery in September 2020 and ended up addicted to the pain pills that were prescribed and I lost myself, my family, my job and I'm so lost and broken and don't know where to begin. I did go to and complete a rehab in January 2021, I still struggle with the thoughts of using and have slipped up 2x already Idk this is the hardest thing I've ever been through.

Forgiveness is a process. I have found that absolving myself of wants and desires is something that means forgiveness is not always necessary. When we do something regrettable or something we are ashamed of we find ourselves in a position where we desire to put things right or the desire to go back in time and change our actions. Being aware of these desires and wants is crucial. Forgiveness means that these wants and desires go away, but the important thing is that we absolve ourselves of these wants and desires. Forgiveness is like a short cut to this. Work on wants and desires and forgiveness becomes something that is not necessary for moving forward. I have done things in my life that I don’t think I deserve forgiveness for but I make sure that I am aware of my desire to change the past or the desire to undo the actions and deeds of the past.

For most of my adult life I struggled with addiction and by the grace of God I found that obsession lifted and ended up 5yrs sober. I had shoulder surgery in September 2020 and lost it all, ended up back addicted to opiates and lost everything in 5mths what took 5yrs to gain. I'm lost broken and ashamed, guilt ridden and a shell of emptiness. I need Christ more now than ever I pray I find the light again sooner than later, I often contemplate suicide and that's not me I have young children Idk I just hope and pray things improve and i can forgive myself

I pray that he continues to be a warrior when faced against his addictions. I pray that he has confidence and strength while he goes through his life. I pray for support around him to help him make the right decisions and I pray that he fights this battle of depression with your love. Thank you so much for this. I had a word of knowledge spoken over me in church awhile back that I needed to forgive myself. The person speaking it had no idea of the anguish that had been going on in my heart. I totally broke. I have wept many, many bitter tears of repentance because I something I did against God in the past. I have struggled to forgive some who hurt me deeply and with His help I have forgiven but could not forgive myself, even though that word was spoken over me. The tears are flowing again as I listen to your message. I chose today to receive the abundant grace of God and know He has forgiven me. If He can forgive Peter, He can forgive me. It’s true once God has given you forgiveness, He is faithful. The problem is sometimes we aren’t faithful. Jesus says feed my sheep. Be transformed by the renewing of your mind, live for God today despite what happened yesterday, despite the sin you committed yesterday, be renewed to Christ again today.

I feel all these things and my shame has walked with me for fifty two years.and even though I’ve been to the lords altar many times I’m still so full of so much shame and pain. I have been trying all these years to let it go yet it has held me back and I’ve repented I’ve cried out to God and yet here I still am . I came to the realisation that I have forgiven others that have hurt me in my past, but I haven’t forgiven myself and instead of forgiving myself I hate myself. I came to Christ to help me and I feel like he is helping me and I know that he’s telling me to forgive myself, I know that this is going to be a big journey

Forgive, don’t forget. Always good to learn from your past, but it can’t define you. Each time you talk about it, it brings it back to the top, making it present and giving it life once again. Let it ride and send it down river. Since God can forgive you through the blood on the cross, surely you can forgive you and move on. Easier said than done, sure. Daily battle. God speed. We all make mistakes.
