Thank you needed to know how to do this on a Mac (as opposed to PC) but worth mentioning re-formatting disk will actually erase anything currently on it so back that data up else where before you start.

Nice presentation. We are formatting an external HD (Seagate, WD, etc.) And from this presntation we know now that exFAT allows large or small files to be transferred between your Win and Mac Machines, which is great. Some questions: 1. Can exFAT be used as is for Time Machine? 2. Can exFAT be used as is for Windows 7 Backup? See, I think APFS is necessary for Time Machine, so what do we do there? Partition or reformat? And NTFS is necessary for Windows 7 Backup, so what do we do there? Partition or reformat? When doing this the right way, format first on the Mac as exFAT or on the Windows machine as exFAT? Or, format and partition at the beginning. Which partition should be which? 1 Tb External HD partitioning: 500 Gb NTFS (backup windows) 250 Gb APFS (mac backup) 250 Gb exFAT (mac and win exchange partition) Which do you do first? or Does it make a diff? Thanks! :)

After doing all of that, it still did not work. I plugged it in my windows laptop and immediately the pc asked me to format it, then i did in exFat and plugged it back to my Mac and it worked. Thank you your video worked somehow. From South Africa - One!!
