I am new to the hobby and I started with the RadioMaster Tx16s mk2 with Edge TX and the 4 in 1 internal RF module and ELRS external. Once I learned how to program models in Edge TX, I feel pretty confident with new models. Actually the new models are just slight modifications of the basic one I setup. My basic setup includes one stage throttle cut, flight modes (stabilized, optimized, off), triple rates with expo, launch mode for hand launch, flaps. Of course I use the 4 in 1 for my BNF UMX Turbo Timber and the little BNF Volantex park flyers. I use ELRS for my PNP FMS trainers, with RM ER6 receivers. Telemetry is a real bonus as I learn how to fly. I’m really enjoying the hobby. I’m currently just flying LOS, but am enjoying your series on understanding FPV. This FPV series is really well done with clear explanations. Thanks for producing a quality series.

Yeah I’ve heard that your transmitter system with the 4in1 module works really well! And we’re happy that we can help someone into the rc/fpv hobby!!!

Have u tried head tracking fpv? You guys should do a video on that. It would be cool to see it on a micro plane like the evo

I totally agree that would be awesome on a small plane like an Evo! We’ll look into it and see what we can do!

On transmitters, the Dxe was my first TX, and I found it too much of a hassle if you have more than one plane. I used dx6's during training nights at my RC club, and they were ok. I got a Radiomaster TX16s with the 4-in-1 module at the recommendation of someone at my RC club. For the money, Spektrum has nothing that comes close to the quality and features. Spektrum don't match it even on paper until about the $800-900 range, which is kind of ridiculous. The only thing that isn't great on the TX16s is with Spektrum DSM receivers the signal quality telemetry is not useful, so I turn off that telemetry alarm. I guess if you can't figure anything out yourself, not having airplane instructions not be able to hand-hold you with Spektrum model setup instructions could be an issue, but honestly, model setup is pretty trivial once you've done it 2 or 3 times, and it translates pretty easily. I'll probably never own another Spektrum transmitter. They aren't that good for the money.

Yeah Spektrum transmitters without a screen can be a bit funky if you have a few planes, but I’ve been using a dx6e for many years and it’s worked for many planes, quads, cars, and more. We also like how well they link with all the Eflite BNF planes, and it makes the initial setup of safe/AS3X simple. I wouldn’t trash on Spektrum, and I think they work really well for in-Spektrum equipment. I will say that we recently got a Taranis x9D on Facebook marketplace, and I can’t wait to try it out with a 4-on-1 module too! There’s just so many options for gear and it’s fun finding what works best for your situation!

@@InvertedAviatorsRC plenty of other TXs for lower cost work just as well with Eflte BNF planes, and work with way more things than Spektrum TXs do. I have a Timber X that works flawlessly with the TX16s and was pretty easy to set up.

Cool! I have a Timber X as well and it works super smooth with the DX6E! Once again there are just so many options, and depending on what you want to do there’s no wrong answers!

If i buy most my planes from horizon hobby, and I am only park flying what what transmitter do you recommend?
@InvertedAviatorsRC
@InvertedAviatorsRC 10 ай бұрын
We would recommend a Spektrum DX6E (linked in the description). This model provides all of the necessary features and functions for most remote control vehicles. Plus, if you are mainly flying things from Horizon Hobby, Spektrum and Horizon Hobby are partners and all of their transmitters work really well. Plus I've had by DX6E for 5+ years, and I still use it every time I go out and fly! Let us know if you have any more questions!

Can't go wrong with spectrum. Iv been using a dx6 for 6years and it has been rock solid. All this time my quad buddies have changed radios many times.

I use a Zorro 4in1 with my UMXTTEvo... I set up a double throttle cut safety, but later had to remove it because I accidentally cut it while flying... had to turn the other switch off to then turn the throttle back on lol... I was lucky that plane sometimes acts like a kite and it was high enough to give me time to think while it was starting to drop... dunno how I didnt panic because that was scary... 😅😅😅 I wanted to add the dual rates to practice flying without SAFE. It seems that on EdgeTX the process has extra steps... but you gave me an idea... thnks

I haven’t tried connecting my Zorro to the Evo, but I might give it a try! Yeah the double kill switch is super safe, but can be a little tricky to re-arm if you accidentally kill it mid flight 😅 you can also set up a switch to turn SAFE all the way off, which is something that we did too

@@InvertedAviatorsRC I do have SAFE on a switch, but wasnt sure about how to set up the rates without affecting the performace of the plane while it is on. I guess I'd have to either set it up to be active only when the SAFE switch is off or set up a dual rate switch to change it regardless of the SAFE switch position... well, time for some research hehe
@InvertedAviatorsRC
@InvertedAviatorsRC 10 ай бұрын
SAFE works like another level of low rates, where it limits the stick travel even more. So if you have SAFE enabled AND low rates, then you really are limited in the control surface deflection. We have one switch for rates, one for safe, and then a separate kill switch so we have lots of flying options in the air. The nice thing about dual rates is that it doesn’t require it’s own channel, so it frees up space for other fun things 😊
@sgecko7
@sgecko7 10 ай бұрын
Yeah, that's what I want to avoid... low rates and SAFE at the same time. I wont be able to test it until next Sunday, so I have time to tinker. BTW, IIRC you said in the video your Zorro is the ELRS version. If you try connecting it to the TTEvo, if I'm not mistaken, it wont work unless you have the 4in1 external module on the Tx or an external ELRS receiver
