What do you mean unnecessary floor joists over concrete? Why not necessary?
@kaitlynendsley57354 жыл бұрын
awesomepumashoes you don’t need the joist because you can just put the flooring with vapor seal or some padding directly on the concrete

Shouldn't there be some isolating layer between concrete and the first wooden layer (the very first pieces shown in video)?

Some people use polyethylene plastic sheeting on top of the foundation before putting the pressure treated sill-plate down on top of it. It’s not necessary I don’t think, but adds another layer of protection from moisture.

why is there a 2" gap between the floor joists and concrete foundation?
@DAStubblefield8 жыл бұрын
The sill plate goes on top of the foundation, but under the joists. It gives a good, flat surface to continue framing the house and also helps protect against moisture and rotting.
@joshuamylesgibson8 жыл бұрын
Makes sense, though I had no idea proper floor joists were suspended 2" off the foundation. Thanks for the video

Joshua Gibson why joist when you have solid foundation unless you use that space for pipes or heat/ ac lines if no basement. Video is strange.

why would you put floor joist over a slab? Your carpet tile or wood should go over the slab. With wood you would want to use a barrier or float it though.
@DAStubblefield7 жыл бұрын

You made a mistake when you joined all the walls together. You never join the outside walls like this. You stand up all north and South walls and Cap off with easy and west or the other way around, but never in a spiral pattern like you show in the video. Anyone who has ever build a house like that shows their inexperience in construction.
@ReinBelmont6 жыл бұрын
moofushu why?
@moofushu6 жыл бұрын
Homes or small structures are never built in a spiral pattern like is shown in this video. It would have been just as easy for the builder to use the very same materials and stand up all north and south walls and cap it off with east and west walls. Doing it in the fashion shown in the video adds problems to the structure and shows the inexperience of the person building it when they could have avoided problems by just not building in the spiral pattern.
@Joedirt55 жыл бұрын
@@moofushu spiral pattern can u please explain what u mean?
@moofushu5 жыл бұрын
@@Joedirt5 Yes, Its simple. Outside walls are either through walls or they are butt walls. Its wall framing basics. You can look this up online. If you want to see it explained in a video then I recommend you look up "Wall Framing Basics How to Frame a Wall and Door" on youtube. In that video explained by Larry Haun jump to time stamp 7:40 in the video titled "wall plating." He clearly explains through walls vs butt walls and why you build this way. I will say when I didn't know better and built my first shed on my own with no outside help I made this mistake shown in this animation video. I build my outside walls with all of them being butt walls. It made for more hardship than was necessary. Trust me, you never want to build an actual house or small shed like is shown in this animation. you'll wish you could go back and redo it when you get to the roof.
