There’s a negative to stuff like killmat. it absorbs heat at the hottest time of the day and re-radiates it inside the van right at the time of day, late afternoon or early evening, when you’re going to be inside of it and wanting to be cool. That’s especially a problem for dark colored vans

Did you have LED lights on any of the ceiling support beams? I have a 2020 Promaster and it came with a string of LED lights that are wired into the van and go across 2 of the support beams. I am trying to find instructions from someone who has removed them.

Sure did, they just unsnap from the silver clips, unplug from wiring harness on passenger side, and the clips can be unscrewed / removed. Good luck!

This probably gets asked a lot….but why only one square of the sound deadener on a panel? Isn’t it an insulator also? I’ve only seen a few vans where they used it on the entire wall. Most just put the square. Just wondering does it insulate ? Is it overkill to do all the walls? Thanks!
@biglogan36903 жыл бұрын
Great question and I differ from other upfitters and builders by only placing what is needed to deaden the resonance / drumming noise created by the rigid metal body. I insulate with Havelock Wool and have always built my vans with 1 package of Kilmat.

Why did you decide to replace the factory composite floor with plywood?
@everybodylovesscout4 жыл бұрын
Great videos btw. I just bought a Promaster with the missing bulkhead and have been trying to decide what to do. I think I'll copy you since it came out so nice. That indoor/outdoor carpet is just that much more insulation/sound deadening. Nice work btw. I see you went with an isotherm fridge as will I. I'm gonna get the cruise 65. I'm doing 650 watts solar with two 325 residential panels...400ah lithium....maxair fan and a all in one internet package set up from mobilemusthave.com. I'm doing all this in the Promaster 1500! I was thinking of using a propane shower but decided on a Bosch electric water tank heater instead since I'll have the power. I will have a propane stovetop and probably a Propex heater as well. Gonna carry 2 20lb tanks in a vented propane locker under the stove so I can stay off grid for a couple months if I had to. I'm thinking an over the wheel well 45 gallon tank for the outdoor shower and a separate 7 gal fresh/7gal grey under the sink with a footpump to conserve the water used at sink. Good stuff Logan! So glad I found your channel.
@biglogan36904 жыл бұрын
Awesome! Very similar in a few ways, propane cooktop with small bottle under countertop, doing 30 gallons fresh and 15 galling grey underbody. Bosch 4 galling electric water heater. 300solar, dc to dc mppt all in one solar and alternator charge controller, and 250ah Lead acid bank to start. Can’t wait for it to turn out! Good luck on your build!

I would stay away from framing with conventional lumber all together. Using light weight materials like 1/2" and 3/4" plywood is better for multiple reasons. #1 is weight, #2 it doesn't warp, #3 it saves on space which is key in every van build. EVERY INCH COUNTS!

When putting your head and foot board up how did you know exactly where to pre drill your holes on the wood to make it level?
@biglogan36904 жыл бұрын
Hey Zach, that early in the build it’s impossible to know what’s going to be level (front to rear) due to added weight of the build, especially water and battery bank, and weight of the slat bed. I simply made this “level” with the body of the van. The top structure of the bed will be built towards the end of the project and can be adjusted if it is still uncomfortably off. Thanks for watching!
