The trick to this working is the pressure between the back and the front, this is what is holding the puzzle together. If you are using a thinner puzzle or a thicker frame, try adding some more backing to keep the pressure of the puzzle onto the glass.

How to frame on an wooden frame in my case a large pieces in 48 x 20 cm
@NixPix
@NixPix 2 жыл бұрын
@@ViperStrike do you put the puzzle together on something other than just the table? If the frame is the same size as the puzzle than the above principle should still work just keep the pressure between the back of the frame and the front. Hope that helps.

@@NixPix thx I finished the 1000 pieces puzzle last year, but the upper corner of the frame broke a little bit. I should not do the trick as before and find another way out to insert the puzzle without mashing the pieces and overlaying the texture.

Great idea building the puzzle on the paper from the frame. I start with the edge pieces first too. Here’s an additional tip. When done with the puzzle roll it from all four sides to the center with a rolling pin. It seats all the pieces together and gets rid of the spaces between the puzzle pieces.

Just completed first puzzle in decades! Home from hospital for Covid. So needed something to do to bide my time. I was dreading taking it apart but didn’t want to put glue on it and not ever have others enjoy putting it together someday. I might look into this! I like the idea you mentioned in a reply of putting it on a mat and then framing it, only because I too wonder if the edge pieces won’t get depressed line from frame over time. Btw, I’m not an edge first puzzler but I do set them aside if I’m not sure where they go. I spent hours separating pieces into piles that I believed would make up a section of the puzzle. It wasn’t until a week later that I built it because I was so tired from all the separating! 😆 Thanks for your video.

@NixPix
@NixPix 4 жыл бұрын
April Victoria Durnin Yes that is a poster frame the film that you saw me peeling off was just a protective cover on top of the frame there is actually nothing sticking the puzzle together the only thing that’s holding it together is the pressure from the back of the poster frame in the front of the poster frame I have yet to figure out a way to do it where I don’t have the frame being the same way but I’m working on it. I had the thought if you could use a picture Matt to fit around the puzzle and then fit it into a frame.

You can definitely do that, I have had no problems with mine coming undone and I now have 13 on my puzzle wall. The idea of not glueing besides the instant gratification of putting it in my wall is to take it down and change it out later. Very cool, my wifey and I have been using a different frame that we purchase at Walmart and ends with a white mat look (but gravity takes over and they look non-centered), but I am gonna try out this frame. We too don't glue them for the same reason that you stated in your video. Thanks for sharing your video.

So as soon as Michaels got rid of their forty % off coupon I started buying them at Walmart for 6$ and haven't had a problem you say a matte finish ( did you make sure to peel the protective cover off) I did that once LOL. with the ones that are sagging can you put extra cardboard or paper on the bag to keep the pressure on the front of the poster frame. Thanks for commenting look forward to hear how it worked out.
@HDLowrider03
@HDLowrider03 3 жыл бұрын
@@NixPix Yeah, we are buying frames that are a little bit bigger, just to not eliminate any edge detail, you know, to show the whole puzzle. But I like how your's turned out. So, using a little bigger frame, created a white matte finish from the white paper (you know, the same sheet that you flip over and use) and since the frame is bigger, gravity wins. We had bought a poster frame, used cardboard to create a matte, and framed into that cutout the Disney 2-sided Up puzzle. We flip it when we want to see young or old Carl & Ellie.
@HDLowrider03
@HDLowrider03 3 жыл бұрын
@@NixPix I had thought of what you said, using extra cardboard or paper on the back to keep pressure and I probably will try that or I might try the actual poster frames that are closer to the puzzle size. As I stated in the previous comment, I like how yours looks. It doesn't take away much from the puzzle edges.

@@NixPix I'm sorry, I primarily just use FB. But now that memory serves me correctly. We bought two of them poster frames and a piece of white cardboard (you know, from the crafts/school work aisle). Upon completing the Up puzzle, I cut out size in the white cardboard, used one of the sheets from the poster frame for the other white side (we couldn't find an all white cardboard on both sides), and used the two acrylic clear plastics (obviously a 2-sided puzzle hence why we bought two poster frames). You left me thinking, perhaps one day, I will share pics of the framed puzzle in the FB group, Disney Puzzlers.

I'm so glad! I have not tried it yet on a different frame or size but the key is being able to keep the pressure on the back of the puzzle.

This only works for small puzzles like that one. If it's big, middle pieces could fall. Before framing the puzzle, just flip it and use the same tape you used at the end of the video to secure the pieces. Then flip it back and frame it like you did. It's better and also without glue, as tape is easily removable.
@NixPix

Good tip! I can see because the bigger the puzzle smaller the pieces and they don't lock as well. I thought of using pictures frames from good will and putting extra backing to keep it pushed against the glass.

I think the hardest part is finding the frame size for the 1000 piece one the 750 is a nice standard size but as long as you can slide it in the back and there isn’t a lot of space between the back and front glass I would think it should all hold fine. Feel free to post a pic and tag me 😎

I have a puzzle that is 27” x 38” inches nut I can only find a frame that is 27” x 39” will it still work or does it need to me exact size of the frame? Please let me know it would help out a lot
@NixPix

The key is the pressure from the back of the frame against the puzzle so maybe add another layer behind and maybe fit some thing to go on the 1/2 inch space where the frame is bigger. Died that make since

stef gaming there is no glue it’s a thin poster frame from Michaels it has hangers on the back and the pressure of the back of the frame and the front of the frame hold the puzzle together.

I was just thinking about buying a "where's wally" 1000 pieces jigsaw puzzle and I loved your idea, its the first time I see something different than glueing everything. Forgive my rusty english, I'm from Brazil. ps: not sure where you're from but in case of the USA I believe its called Waldo there. In Brazil it's known as Wally
@NixPix
@NixPix 4 жыл бұрын
how fun is that yes fine a frame preferably poster the same size and just keep the pressure on the back thats the key. let me know I so far I have only used the 750 piece size. yes it is Waldo here it was so huge in the late1980's, I remember because we had a friend named Waldo and not one person did NOT say that to him LOL

Every puzzle is a little different if you still have the box look down in the right hand bottom corner of the top of the lid and it will tell you the puzzle size. The 750 piece is z concur that size. Good luck fell free to post a picture on my Facebook page

can you get a mat board and cut out the shape of the puzzle so then its all flat and ( you might have to glue it though if that doesn't work) odd shapes are a pain to frame. the key is the pressure on the puzzle and the glass

Would any frame work? I'm about to finish a 1500 piece puzzle and would love to frame it, but I'm scared the puzzle will be too thick for the frame, if that makes sense! 😊
@NixPix
@NixPix 4 жыл бұрын
Mandi Primeaux54 yes that makes since I have a note in the comments about the puzzle being to thin and adding pressure to it but unless you are able to tape the frame back to the actual frame it could work just needs enough pressure to hold the frame in place ( haven’t tried another frame yet these work perfect for the puzzles I’m working on now) thanks for asking love the interaction.

Hello and Thank You, I love this efficient way of mounting a puzzle. Micheals doesn't sell the poster frame in 20" x 27." I tried using different words , puzzle or poster and nothing. So I must go to pictureframes.com . That size frame is on back order for weeks. So I have step up and pay more than I expected. This comes as unassembled kit. I don't know if it has a thin clear sheet. To keep the puzzle intact. What do you suggest? I'm a novice to all this. Thank You,

Things are crazy with puzzles right now I bought that (future video LOL) Mulan Puzzle at michaels with my coupon for $6 saw the same one on Amazon for $55 and it wast the only one and they were used. I have not framed anything other than this size as I am in the middle of doing the collection but I believe the key is keeping the pressure on the back of the puzzle pushing it into the glass/plastic front part of the frame good luck hope it all works out after that.
