Coat hangers work pretty well to make hook tool to pull up on latch pieces like you said via window slot access. Great instructive video . It also works on Fords ,!! Thx

Love this stuff, this is the real world. You're not gonna find this kind of info in a Hayne's manual.

Good information as so many of these sit out in the weather for so many years with dirt and tree residue just building up in these mechanisms. On a side note I had a Mr. Goodpliers sighting Saturday at, of all things, a graduation reception. You never know who you may run into in Small-town, USA. It was good to talk to the guy behind the camera.

Every year and even individual models and bodystyles are different. Hope there's some general principles here that will help for your specific car. I missed including it in this video, but it's a good place to start to work the lock mechanism first - it controls about a third of the latch parts and getting it moving is a good way to cheat ahead some of the time involved in the process. Good luck my friend 👍

Wet graphite spray is excellent for long term storage as is "super lube" full synthetic grease ( repels water)

I have a 1965 Pontiac Catalina same door same problem. I assume its the same design on these door latch assemblies? This looks like a good way in. Will have to try it.

The latches on each car are all slightly different. Unfortunately the 1967 Impala two door, and many others, have all the parts contained in a "box" and there's no way to reach the individual components to manipulate them. I hope your particular car is not this way. One thing I forgot to put in this video is that if you can get the lock rod moving up and down, it controls roughly a third of the latch parts, so it's a good way to "cheat" ahead and do more work outside the door rather than having to squeeze inside

Its been a couple years since i been inside the car to try the lever. I just got a ozone generator to run inside it before i go into the thing. Once thats done ill try getting to the box wilth some seafoam deep creep. Try to lower the window and hit it that way also. Hopefully i will have success.

Would a little bit of heat from a small propane torch help in these situations?

I have one more door to get open. But the first step for me was to clean out the car with a shop vacuum. 😆 How are you working in that mess? But great info. Thank you.

PB Blaster is good, or any other quality penetrant. WD40 is too light and evaporates off

The doors on my Explorer are tight right now so soaking the latches and praying to start with... thats the famous ghost hunter car everyone seems to have taken to... it had a 502 engine in the show... not so common/LOL

What do you like for rust busting? ATF/acetone mix? PB? Diesel fuel? Good tutorial. Amazed you work right in rat shit, you and Mike Hall!!

I used PB Blaster for this. I've heard ATF/acetone is the "gold standard" for seized engines
