Grrrrrrr Relabel this video to “what is a credit freeze.” You knew very well that you would get clicks and views with people wanting to know “how to freeze their credit.” I’m so mad that I wasted all that time. Seriously, no more videos here. 😠

Hell, a government contractor with ALL of our personal data was just hacked. So, in spite of doing everything right, we are still vulnerable due to government incompetence. Organization that have our data, and don't do everything possible to protect that data (like encryption of data at rest) should be held liable. Maybe then, they will do their due diligence, as required by law.

The Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act, signed into law by President Donald Trump on May 24, 2018, amended the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) to permit consumers to freeze and unfreeze their credit reports at no cost. This legislation went into effect on September 21, 2018.

Unfortunately a lot of the time your information is stolen from a "trustworthy" 3rd party. Or like in my case, stolen information from an organization.

"Which is why it's so important to make sure your identity is not stolen." We can't control what insecure back end the medical/financial/government agencies use. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that we are well beyond the age where the vast majority of identity thefts are the direct fault of the victim.

Requires multiple means of verification including in some cases pin numbers.

@@LarryKelly Warning regarding "robo-calls" (you hear that "boink" noise at the very start") if they ask you "can you hear me" HANG UP they're recording your voice saying "yes" and this has been used to fake your ID on some banking/CC phone lines.

When signing up with these bureaus, two of three ask for the last 4digits of ssn, but Equifax asks for the whole thing. Didn’t they get breached a while back? Isn’t that worrisome that they ask for the full ssn when the other two ask for the last4?

You've likely already been breached at this point. Your SSN is likely floating in the dark web somewhere right now. Putting your SSN into the site isn't going to cause you even more issues. The important thing is to freeze your credit.

Ok, here's the problem - because of the most recent breach, I am trying to freeze my accounts through all 3 credit bureaus. - 2 of them were easy enough, but the 3rd one requires me to type the "pass-code" they text me before I can freeze. - So the problem is I never got it. (Yes, I clicked "re-send.") I realize LOTS of people are trying to freeze their credit right now, but what good is it to freeze only 2 accounts, when the 3rd one won't let me?

Yes on social media when you're getting coupons put fake information down fake birthdays spell your name wrong I always do that Even my own friends don't know how old I am😅😅😅

Credit freeze doesn't even work. Someone just opened up a credit card in my name and I froze my account months ago... freeze doesn't work experian let me down

I was searching and came across with this video....Not sure if you'll see this comment but I was able to submit 3 complaints to ID Theft, however I can't get any more verification codes and I've Tried several different numbers but lucky me my cousin recommended *GLAVISTECHZ* he’s a professional tech guru. He was able to delete it. I suggest you send him a request if he can be of help.

That may be, but I think he kept the value in his video intact and short because the true value of what he's sharing is the why, the how, when and where, with viewers. No need for step by step handholding when the rest of the process is pretty straightforward and he is presuming that viewers are competent enough to do a few quick Google searches and do the rest of the clickity-clack, tappity-taps, or make calls to get it done.

Make an account with all 3 bureaus for free, then freeze on your credit on their site, took me less than 30 mins to do all 3

For a credit freeze, you need to do all three. For a credit alert, you only need to contact one of the three.

These three charge a monthly fee to sign up. They're NOT free. So what do those of us do who can't afford an account?

This is all wrong.... provide name, date of birth and address... thats it... remove all previous information linked on your credit report... all old addresses... employment details... old phone numbers... if they fail to comply you can sue for $2500 in a small claims court after 45 days...

Bruh, all 3 credit agencies make it very clear on their websites that credit freezes are free, and thanks to Trump have to be free since around 2018.
