You could regulate the flame, and heat up the oil. Then let the pan sit on the burner while the egg firms up without having to hold the pan over the fire. I own this trek 900 kit and that same Pocket Rocket 2 stove, and use it often for perfect sunny side ups & omelets with no hesitation. It’s really simple. Thanks for the video. Great nesting kit.

People with titanium pans who want to fry meat or cook rice need a flame which will adjust very low and a lid from a tin can, to act as a heat diffuser. One of the key tricks to frying in titanium is a very low heat.

Thanks for the video. I have the same cook set, but never tried eggs until this morning. It was a disaster. I'm going to give your method a shot.

Hot pan, cold oil, food won't stick, as one of the TV chefs used to say. I forget his name.

How about for cooking stews? I'm torn between getting a titanium or just a cheap aluminum grease pot.

Sudoku Jones you could with a tin can lid diffuser, but I would go with a Billie Can. I like the Zebra Billie Can. It’s about $15 US On Amazon and made of stainless. I am not must of a pack weight fanatic but respect those who are.

I'm not an ultra lighter; however, because of camera equipment, I tend to get bogged down a bit more than I'd like. So, I wouldn't mind shaving weight where I can. Thanks for the tips, I'll take a look at it!

Looks like a good kit and love the egg. Next time, maybe prep the pan and get it all ready before starting the stove. It's about 25+ seconds of burn time and those gas cans are relatively expensive. Plus the green thing.

it's actually sad you need to fry an egg in mid air.. Is this because it's on a butane stove? (also, the music makes it even more sad :D )

Marne P. 😂 thanks for the comment! It is fried higher because the heat distribution on Ti is poor. If you carry this light weight material, you have to take a different approach. I will upload a version with your favorite tune. Let me know.... 🤙😬😂

Thank you! I've watched the other videos, damn year yelling at the screen because they clearly don't know how to cook and are blaming the equipment.

What if you use a non stick frying pan liner? They are made of teflon I think, and you can easily cut it to fit the size of your pan. It ends the need for oil to cook, and it is easier to clean at the end, special when outdoors. Have you test it yet?

Yah, I just eat the eggs raw and switched to a Billy Pot and Wood Fire for cooking. My thoughts these years later is Titanium is overpriced and terrible to cook with. However, everyone needs a great Camp Knife! Check my knives out at knife-maker.com! Have a blessed day and thanks for the great comment!

@@trioultimo sorry to hear that friend. Maybe as you get more experience backpacking and outdoor cooking you won’t have these problems. Keep trying 👍 I typically use a titanium spork when backpacking and don’t carry whole eggs. I am more of a freeze dried or simple ingredients person. I had seen other try to fry an egg on a ti pan and challenged myself. Was not beautiful, but I kept the yoke intact. If I am cooking like this, I am not far from the car and have. Cast iron cook pan and Dutch oven that I use. Stay cool and thanks for the input.
