I had to log into my account just to thank you for explaining the transition between vocal fry and a vocal scream, I tried in the past to "blend" it together without success, once you taught me it's a transition with your first method, it was very comfortable, I could hear a little tiny raspy break in my exhale, once I got the hang of what the feeling was I just pushed out more and more air from my diaphragm like I was really fed up. It's literally only been 3 hours and I can scream like my idol Mitch Lucker (R.I.P) and what's great is that my throat doesn't hurt at all!!

I tried a lot of things. This was the first video that actually taught me simple steps to hold the right vocal form. Now I can explore my voice up and down my range to find points that enhance that tone. Too many tutorials are like "make this sound", which isnt right because "that sound" is unique to your voice. You said "here's how to slowly get into the form that makes MY voice sound like this" and it totally worked. I added breath support and instead of wheezing out it was like the static disappeared for a split second then a jet engine geared up. Trying to "yell" that loud would totally hurt. I'm amazed. Thank you!

@@voicehacks found this going down a Pat Benatar rabbit hole. Growing up in the 80s the various metal " voices " are near & dear to me & seeing a woman doing a video on it peaked my interest. I am not a singer except for my own joy or pain. However, even I noticed an improvement in my ability....with any song. You explain in a way that feels intuitive ♡ Yes, I know Pat Benatar does not fry, nor sing metal. However she opened so many doors. She blew away the radio charts with her operatically trained voice turned rock. If any of you have never watched her sing or never heard this song check out this link.....it's a bit slow at 1st, wait for when she " lets loose " towards the end. She's still not even trying! Over 2 decades of singing that song every show (still touring this summer) & her vocal cords show no signs of objecting! I assume this is a great example of the power of warming up & proper use of your breath. Anyway...thank you for sharing I knew l had learned something when one morning my wife called my name & repeated it as I was walking back down the hall to respond. Now I wake up grumpy...I mean foggy, grumpy, leave me alone ...I kinda yelled "What!?" .....except it came out like a demon voice 😲🤤 I had to go apologize 🙄 My brain went ..Oh! @harper.la.vegano5 жыл бұрын
Try tightening or pushing your diaphragm (the muscle that contracts when you hiccup). Google the anatomy of the torso to find where this is. You can feel where it is a few ways but I describe it as creating a backwards hiccup. There's plenty of videos that explain how to use the diaphragm to project.

@cypruslavigne74195 жыл бұрын
Yes, depending on your vocal type and range, you won't be able to go higher after a certain point in your chest without risking strain or damage to your chords. You have to have a really strong falsetto/head voice and good control over it to apply it to screaming. It will feel like a natural gap jumping from the chest/head while fry screaming. The sound will just feel like it's coming from your head rather than your diaphragm.
@voicehacks5 жыл бұрын

The problem with trying to copy the sound is that you can make this sound in many different ways (by forcing it) which can put you down incorrect paths.

I've seen many tutorials and I think this is the best one. I was practicing a year with the diaphragm trying to sound like Dracula about to bite (that's the idea someone said in a tutorial) and my fry scream still didn't sound that good. With this technique it sounds better. Thanks so much!

S to z just clicked for some reason. Literally day 2 of learning and I found your video and got my first fry. This is insane. I'm literally in disbelief. It doesn't sound great but I did it. Kudos, you really know what you are talking about!!!

Funny story, i've been trying this on and off and watched several different content creators on youtube, but was never sure if i got the basics down correctly; my fry sounded weak, super weak. Just watching this video once i finally got it. :) Subbed!
