This is not specifically what you're doing here, but I would love to see an explainer video on exactly what mix or mixed voice feels like. I have watched so many videos the have the person singing in the mix.. but no real mechanics on how to achieve it or what it feels. I'm a unique subject as I'm a true bass with tons of high range. Just can't find the mix. If you have a vid like that.. lemme know. ;)

Thanks to you, I can do harsh vocals now and it’s really building my confidence! I’ve always been a metal head and love singing but there’s an extra kind of confidence you get when you can be a total badass imo 🖤🤘 Can you do an intro to making covers video possibly? Or DAWs for beginners? Mics for beginners etc? I’m so bored with using karaoke apps to record and have stopped making content because of it :( I’d love to join a band someday but obviously stand no chance if I can’t figure out how to record anything or make a demo even 😬😭 not to mention I’m already 33 so I’m off to a late start…

I like matt honeycutts unclean vocalization. It's sounds really natural. Many people learn to scream but they don't perfect in a personal way and it's sounds artificial.

Just to simplify what I think you’re saying about keeping the cords open so that there’s no tone, I saw an interview with Melissa Bonny on the charismatic voice… And she said basically it’s like you’re not using the vocal cords at all. You’re basically pushing up air from the stomach straight through the mouth. No vocal cords at all, or at least that’s how you think of it. I guess that’s when you’re ending up using the vestibular folds or something. She also said that thing about sighing or groaning as if you’re frustrated, for example when your mom is calling you while you’re playing video games.
@voicehacks2 жыл бұрын
Yes! She is a really good false cord screamer and I would say that is an accurate description!

I simply always sing inwardly. I can sing like Brian Johnson & Axl Rose like that without even practicing & it sounds completely like I would shout outside with amplification. It is not exactly like inward singing. More like a controlled singing. (not too loud because of the distortion in the voice) You can regulate the rasp in your voice better like that. (otherwise you wouldn‘t have control of it when you sing too loud) I am guitarist originally. (more or less) And I use this technique like a distortion channel for guitars.

Can you make a video where you demo all the voice skills that you teach, including talking in an even lower pitch than normal?
@rjxaragich3112 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Guru! 😘🙏🤟 I've been learning your harsh vocals (false cord scream-growl) tutorials since last month from your videos. They're truly helpful for me as singing is my hobby. I really wanted to sing my favorite metal songs since a long time, but I wasn't able & confident to do that. Now I can growl or sing in strong harsh vocal that fits to my voice type (though I know it still probably sound imperfect or not quite smooth) 😅. Recently I covered Equilibrium, Arch Enemy, Cradle of Filth, Slipknot, As I Lay Dying, All That Remains songs, & even the operatic-soprano ones such as Epica, After Forever, Within Temptation & Nightwish (Tarja era) to Starmaker app 😁😆 THANKS A BUNCH, no, THANKS ZILLION ZILLION TIMES for your tutorials 💙💚💜 I love your channel!! Stay safe & may you be blessed with wellbeingness always. 😊

Idk if there's like a rule of thumb on this, or if it depends on the anatomy of each person, but roughly how much blood should I be spitting up once I get the technique right? Btw, that's cool what you did with your eyebrow, I thought I was watching an old vid for a minute.

I've only started this a few weeks ago, but I've been recording vocal templates on my songs so I know how many riff repetitions I need, etc. but I've noticed that my vocals "run out" after a verse or so. Is tat anything to worry about? Will that change over time?

So I have been able to scream for a while and doing it on and off for about two years when I have the time. Recently I wanna get more serious with it and really properly learn to unlock the full fry. The problem I just can't get rid of is, I just can't get my throat (and larynx) to relax completely while making a fry scream. I have been a singer for almost 10 years and I know the feeling of relaxing the larynx and actively pulling it down slightly but I just can't seem to make both the fry scream sound and have a neutral larynx and relaxed throat at the same time. What can I do?
@calebs12972 жыл бұрын
I cannot get this without using my throat for some reason. And it always cracks.

A lot of air seems to be sent out in this process - how do you manage not getting breathless in like 3 seconds? Also, is it normal to get slightly dizzy from it? 😄
@voicehacks Жыл бұрын
Very very common to get light headed with this at first. Try staying seated and going slowly for a while before doing them standing. Also my breathing tutorials might help speed up the “getting used to it” part. Best wishes!

Hi Mary I was wondering if you could help me work around a problem I have So I've done vocals on and off for a few years And I find it easy when they are my own songs but if they are someone else's or a song from my favorite artist I have issues with hitting the right melody due to being tone Def any ideas how to work around this
@voicehacks2 жыл бұрын
Hey there! There is NO such thing as being tone deaf. If you are actually hearing impaired, that's different. But if you can hear a healthy amount of decibels and your ears are functioning normally there is no such thing as "tone deaf" or "tone deafness". Some people are more skilled than others at matching singing pitches but every human all day long is speaking in a variety of expressive pitches, making being "tone deaf" not really a real thing. I would sign up for some clean singing lessons and work on clean singing exercises. Practice on modern scales and intervals will make you sing more in tune and help your skills for matching pitches on songs. But this will take some effort and some clean singing lessons and practice. You can improve on it though, it does take work but no one is actually "tone deaf" if their hearing is healthy.
