Dood huge huge respect for showing us how to do this. A lot of artdoll artists out there choose not to or keep it behind a paywall. Which is grand but also a pain in the arse for those of us new to all of this. Massive thanks

Thank you for making this! As many have said already on this video, so many artists hide how they fur faces on stuff like art dolls or sculptures. Most artists even do it on tutorial videos where they show everything but furring the face. Thank you very much for making this! It made things so much easier to understand when it comes to application. ❤️

THANK YOU! I don't get it sometimes- the "OOAK Repaint Art Doll" community seems to be a LOT more kind, encouraging an helpful to the newer artists then in the "Possible Art Doll" community has been. An that's a big shame. Heck its actually why I have put off learning this art form any further for years now. I'm wanting to learn to be able to make proper epic mounts for the dolls I'm making of my whole D&D party OCs. But I've stepped back and waited for so long in hope that this attitude changed and... well thats been a slow thing coming an not without its own drama. Im only just now looking back into this art form because of this video actually. This has given me a bit of hope that things are changing for the better in the PBA community. I've made this as short an to the point as I possibly can. This was a long while ago and Im not going to name names it's not worth it, but it's worth sharing what chased me away from this art entirely like many of my new artist peers. One of the art doll creators I used to idolize for her gorgeous hyper detailed full face furring on even her smallest dolls was amazing. It's the detail I've been looking for. BUT shortly after finnaly getting into the community and got a chance to talk to the two artists I looked up to for any help... that's when the rug was pulled from under me so fast. Long story short she had been promising to make a full tutorial on the technique for a possible fee for a very long time. Then it changed to only for sale, then it went down to for sale but only for a few people, then to only a few that she choose are "worth it", worthy enough in skill to bother with teaching. An then went to "oh only three people and as a payed apprenticeship only" and had to prove to not ever share it. But after further months this turned round completely saying that it's all discontinued after another big artist convinced them not to teach it at all because it would rip into her business - I mean all the spirit an dedication to the art that any true artist needs to go through and find for themselves! An only after you basically figure it out on your own only then can you be deemed worthy to know this super secret technique. An if you can't figure it out well your a stupid idiot an can go cry about it. I have no problem with wanting money for something you worked stupid hard on. I understand why people can feel so proud of something they perfected. It's the attitude I have issues with. The loss of respect I had, was because of this elitist attitude an straight up insults from some of these "master artists" treating new artists like stupid lessers and openly pulling favorites of basically whoever can suck up to them enough and/or pay enough money. You can keep trade secrets but still be kind, encouraging an polite.

So I'm not alone in this! But what you went through is even more depressing then what I have. In art doll community you get a lot of the same crap, "go figure it out on your own like a real artist". Or just completely ignored. While online, especially on KZbin there are endless tutorials for doll repaints in many different techniques an supplies so you can see what works best with your style. Dollightful specializes in showing many different techniques from inexpensive an easy to more advanced an detailed. An how everyone can get into the art an very encouraging and fun. While with Posable Art Dolls(?) is allmost the complete opposite to newcomers. I remember once in an art doll community thread thing, I saw a few of the better skilled artists boasting to each other about the situation. Allmost having fun mocking outher newer artists. I learned this when I finnaly got the courage to ask a few of them. I just asked is it similar to flocking? An I got "Heh, well yeah-kinda if you wanted it to look crusty an nasty looking." An just laughed.
@seigedrakonera5689 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for this, I had an feeling flocking was incorporated in with outher methods used. The finer details was foggy to me short of laying the fur hairs down two - four hairs at a time. I've done the tedious method turned out fairly well but the labor to achieve it was SO draining, I had to shelf the project twice. 😅 Im allways open to lern an share techniques, its great inspiration that help come up with better or completely new techniques.

I am planning on making a life sized albino cat art doll, realistic ofcourse because we once had an albino cat. She was pearly white and her eyes were gorgerous, i really miss her and i want to try and make her again. I have anxiety, so making that and placing it for example on my stomach or chest would help alot. I really miss our little Daisy, i wish she lived longer. I absolutely love your work even though i haven't watched many of your videos. ❤

this video`s really helpful thx)) Jess need your opinion - i may buy a sewing machine, what model is our singer? is it good enough?
@bubblyleafcreations4 жыл бұрын
My sewing machine is a singer promise. Its kind of cheap to be honest cause I didn't have much to work with at the time. The only problem I have with it, is that some cheap thread tend to get stuck and break, but that could just mean I need to oil it or its the threads fault lol. I'd say its just fine to get something cheap like I did unless you are wanting to sew very thick fabric or a lot of layers. You would want something more industrial for that. mine just can't hand it lol

O really what are you trying to find? Something with a pattern or just something that doesn't look furry lol. I need to remember the place but you can actually have patterns printed on all kinds of different fabrics. Its just a bit pricey :\

@torielric4 жыл бұрын
I just finished my first fox, myself. Just practice with cheaper materials until you think you have what looks good to you. For the head on my fox, I used a Styrofoam ball, carved a snout out of a Styrofoam block (I ended up making two, as the first one was too big), attached everything with wire and glue, then molded the facial features out of milliput clay. Milliput stuck well to the foam (especially the hard foam ball, try not to use the packing peanut-esque foam, TRUST ME) and allowed me to secure the snout better and fill gaps between the two pieces. I should've used it to secure the neck joint, but live and learn.
