I'm so glad I found you!! I have wanted to try this type of craft but I'm not at all good at sewing. I don't have the artistic ability to make up a pattern. That DNA skipped me. 😭. I am trying. Putting the art doll pieces together was a struggle but these dragons turned out incredibly beauty! What i do with the art doll heads is by putting the ears on first when they're finished. And felts works really good on putting the legs together because it is very sturdy to hold them together by gluing them around. :)

Thank you 😊 yes putting everything together is alot of work and I've changed how I do it alot. Plus I know other artists put art dolls together in different ways and it never hurts to mess around with it and see how you like to do it yourself.

He turned into such a handsome dragon. Something I struggle with and you do really well is, patterns. I would love to see how you figure out the pattern for the body. I always end up having to wrap fabric and tfim it off. It would be so much easier to machine sew parts and have a body turn out how i drew it.

Thank you 😊 I still struggle with patterns for plushes. Been wanting to make a couple and figuring out how to do the whole thing out of fabric is so hard. But it just takes time cause when I look back at my old patterns they are so bad lol

My dragon I'm trying to build has a similar body to this so this video helped me see the best way to make the armature and attach the fur and everything else. The only issue I have is the wings....They're a little unique and that's the hardest part for me.

would pipe cleaners be a good substitute for wire? I have thick aluminum wire but im worried it bends and breaks too easily.

I think what I would do for the head is I would instead model it around the armature wire and trim the fabric a bit

Just curious what type of thread and needle are you using to close the body. Is it embroidery thread? If it is do you use the entire 6 strands or split the thread?

I am using embroidery thread and I use all 6 strings, but I'm wanting to see if I can find something stronger like upholstery thread.
