thanks for the video! I'm curious about your take on sitting in as the 2nd guitarist in a band. Say you join a jam session and there's already someone playing rhythm, what would your thought process be to decide what to play?

A tip I learned. Wear your strap when practicing when sitting. Some benefits are that you will have the guitar in roughly the same position when standing, so your fingerings are the same. Second, is that you’re not using your hands and forearms to hold the guitar in place while sitting. You will notice you are always adjusting and you might be holding the guitar incorrectly that makes fretting or picking harder than it should be.

Finally, after years of asking so many different instructors, exactly how do I mute that noise when I pull away from a string and never getting a straight answer that didn’t require finger gymnastics or applying a magical just perfect palm mute. I will be going in to practice this method today! It’s been a huge source of annoyance for me.

One more true story... About 4-5 years ago, the google algorithm offered me your video - How to start improvising on the top 3 strings. Then he asked me for the first time about the usefulness of the video and what I think about it. It was the bomb in that time. The first Gamechanger. Thinking about bottom part of aeolian-minor pentatonic scale-Where is the root and other intervals inside of scale.. Thanks alot for help.

I've just picked up the guitar again after a 13 year stoppage. I wasn't any good back then, being self taught. I'm embarking on that journey once again though, and moments into the video & you've taught me something valuable that I would never have thought about. Priceless. Thank you.

Great videos man. I have searched all over KZbin and never found someone explain scales like you did. I have just plucked around with guitar for a few years but am a complete amateur. Do you recommend a novice doing your play list that is all lessens in order or do you have a preferred order for a novice that you could suggest. BTW I joined the channel and have my son watching you too.
@andrewclarkeguitar4 ай бұрын
Hey! Thanks for joining. I really appreciate that. My videos don't follow a total step-by-step path, but that "All Lessons In Order" playlist is probably your best bet for now :) You'll likely find a point where things get a little too challenging though.

Hey, Andrew! Another great video, love your approach on every single one of them! I did notice before that your playing is very refined, clear, precise... I guess it comes from the attention to details such as this thing you mentioned on the video... on that note, I'd like to ask if you have any tips or perhaps you could even make a video about getting a perfect sound on open chords, specifically the ones when you're not supposed to play one or more string, does it make sense? I have always struggled to get a really nice and clear sound sometimes, not sure when to use the right hand or try to use a finger of the left hand to mute strings whilst making the chord... even arpeggios or other situations... I feel like I was able to develop a decent level of playing, but always felt like it sounded too sloppy... lol
