What are some things you do to get "unstuck"? How do you gain motivation to keep going?
@drishtityagi1734

I hope you will be super fine soon and hot water really helps in sinus .... I think when someone is demotivated they should get inspired by the people who had struggle a lot to achieve where they are right know , i mean its ok if someone is demotivated but not taking a step to make urself motivated again is something that is wrong and according to me everyone gets demotivated at a point in life , but the one really wanted something will get the way back to the motivation and passionate self . Many times we get tired of by the amount of work we had and bcz of being tired we think that we are demotivated . But i believe taking sometime for ourseleves can take us back to where we were Most importantly talk to someone who understands you , who can listen to u . Sometimes just taking to someone and taking there advice can actually motivate u , i think i have said a lot and this is something i go through a lot and for me talking to someone or watching someone online who had gone through struggles and is successful and happy really helps me to be motivated again ......

I think the most effective thing to do to get unstuck for me , is to talk to people about it, get some help... for exemple, when i'm stuck in my project, I ask people and it's crazy how they see what you can't see ! you're soo into the project that it becomes difficult to see easy solutions .. So many times i was like "why did I not think about this ??" People can help you just by looking at your project and have a little debate about it ... it's my last year of Masters this year and I know we are all in the same shit haha we all should help each other. Try to focus on what you like about architecture more than what makes you unmotivated.

Hey I’m a senior and i feel like knowing that this is my final year, it’s even harder to get myself to work and put my best into it so i was thinking of a way to break free from this procrastination and demotivation that i was going through so I personally think that you should surround yourself with people who are doing the same thing idk like we get together and work in silence or listen to music, while taking some breaks this is very helpful specially that you get different solutions and opinions when you are stuck and we like to do a little jury session after we are done. There are other ways but this is one of the best i feel like.

I’m an Architecture student. Architecture school is so extremely tedious. Often times people think design is hard. It’s not. What’s difficult about architecture school is the technicality of the softwares we use. Learning how to design is a skill. But learning how to design using a software that takes years to master is what makes me absolutely hate architecture.

Ahhhh i get such frequent fluctuations between motivated and motivated many days! There was one time when i was feeling extremely inspired and motivated as to why i love architecture and i wrote down what i thought/felt. It felt quite amazing looking back at it at the times i didn't feel so motivated, and it made the situation a little easier! Looking at really good architecture also really inspires me. I'm still figuring out the correct habit for me to keep motivated though, it's tough, but i'm sure is do-able!

After the your meditation/realization on why you choose architecture, Intitle your room door 🚪 Architect (Ar.) with name or surename ex. "Ar. San Jose" Or you can just put a title bar on your desk or anywhere that you always see... This could maybe help you be reminded of what you realized about you meditation. Also keep in mind what you have to do to earn the real "Ar." before your name... We can do this future architects😊

I went through something like that. It hurts, believe me. One of the things that helped me was taking part of a graphic design competition. I lost, but it was fun. To do something that I never done before and I was able to get feedback from the person in charge of the competition was helpful. Sometimes taking a break from things can be the thing that helps you break through. Great video. Thanks for sharing.

After that day off, try Running to help maintain routine and confidence, you can apply that into your work. It can be very difficult to get up and run, but if you do this for the sake of keeping yourself consistent, it becomes easier to just start, and keep running (or to jump into prolonged hours on illustrator and rhino) , the concept applies.

I lose my motivation when i don't find a solution for my project🤣✌️ not finding a concept for example 😅 also the suffering time making the 3d model lol ! So in this cases i jusy STOP everything and go to my bed , i lie down , close my eyes and start thinking correctly about the issue , what do i want ? How can i do it ? Why should i do this ? ....etc many questions, then i get up and come back to work .. Sometimes i still be unmotivated for a weeks lol ! So i take a rest , since I'm not able to work.. i do another activity like drawing for example ( i do fashion illustrations ) or anything else, just to forget the Project, when i feel better i come back to my pc looking at my 3d model " here we go again 🤦🏻‍♀️ " but i can do it because I'm full of energy lol ✌️🤣 I observed something that I'm sure most of students agree , expect you Kyle because you usually study at home you don't go to the uni alot 🤣🤣 so when we were at the University , despite the bad mood after losing our motivation, we get it back when we see the movement there , meeting friends , working together, crying together , all these things are so motivational.. so now because of the lock down , every body is working alone and this can make everybody unmotivated ✌️ but i want to say that Kyle's videos motivated me a looooooot during this pandemic , i swear , thank you so much ❤️

Thank you for this amazing video. For the past couple years iv been doing exactly what you've advised and the tips which has returned great results. What I also like to add is that, by reading personal development books (especially at the park or beach), this has helped with my architectural side and mental focus. Personally I don't rely to much on motivation as its like a temporary, similar to energy drinks it comes and goes, i focus more rather on my habits, purpose and goals. What I also have in my room is an a2 size cork board where I have printed out pictures of everything i want to achieve in life creating in some respects a vision board all pinned up on the board allowing you to easily visually see your life goals to remind yourself eliminating the Law of Diminishing Effect.

We already had our final review just this past week and although I did attend and present, I just feel like I’m done for tbh. I love architecture especially the biomimicry aspect of it (I honestly find it to be beautiful and awe-inspiring). It’s just that I personally don’t find myself to be creative enough and that I spend too much time on one portion of a project/assignment. For my Fall semester of arch school, my attendance has been haywire and probably unrecoverable because when I didn’t finish an assignment on time for pin-up day, I would usually stay back within my dorm room to finish it (as sometimes I would carry my materials back to my dorm with me). I also don’t really think that my craftsmanship is that good. I’d say that my understanding of how to digitally draft has improved but I can’t say likewise for the manual, hands-on aspect of my studies. On top of everything that I’ve mentioned above, it’s no secret that studio culture makes you extremely fatigued so usually I would feel like shit (physically and mentally) most of the day. I’m currently working on this assignment for Rep. (one of my other arch. classes besides studio) and it’s taking me forever and I would like to put some time aside for my other required classes. (I honestly believe that I yearn for instant gratification with regards to the completion of my projects but when I realize that I’ve been here for hours on end, I would start to go numb and my interest in completing it starts to decline. I’m not here to ask for your sympathies, but I would please appreciate some suggestions in terms of what to do moving forward.

There are always swings and roundabouts in this game. I don't think your attendance can be beyond recoverable. I went through phases like yourself where my attendance would drop and I'd feel like showing up to class now would be useless and embarrassing. I can assure you that showing up is the biggest thing. Your tutors will not scold you and you will be shown direction and hopefully have an encouraging conversation that will light some of the sparks you still have for architecture. It's not for everyone, but it is a long game. Try to keep your patience and put your health first. There is no point stressing or tearing out hairs over a university project. You'll soon realise that the work life is a lot more collaborative and dare I say easy going. Good luck

All I can say is try find what fired you up in the first place. If you feel it's not for you, that's okay too. Architecture isn't for everyone and it's a good experience to have nonetheless. By trying it, you figure out what you want to do - and architecture may not be that, but at least you know.

Hey Darpana, I would try breaking up your tasks into smaller, achievable tasks. Rather than looking at assignments as these "monsters" of work to do, try breaking it up and scheduling in smaller tasks to tick off and complete. This will help motivate you as you can visually see yourself ticking off goals and one step at a time will help get you to the end. Hope that helps :)

Sometimes It can appear in such a way that it makes you question your choices but does that really mean that it is not for you or something? I love this profession of architecture because this field has everything I love but there are times I struggle, I feel like I m worthless , life started feeling pointless at that moment and that feeling used to multiply and its been a year since it is prominently started growing and now its making my heart heavier I am still trying to fix it, trying to learn but is that normal to face all these?

First of all , i truely thank you for your advices .I had a problem. So i have planned ahead for all the works that i need to get done before the deadline show up. I started to do my work early , so that i could finish it. However , my plan didnt work. Example , 2h of drafting , but 3h later , i couldnt even finish it . I tried to put my phone away and still end up the same , i feel like i underestimate the a mount of time that it take to do thing , 1h end up at 3h . It makes me unmotivated. What should i do to get better at managing time ? ( apologize about my poor english)

Thanks for watching! Starting earlier is probably a good one. Can't underestimate the amount of time it takes to do things. Definitely create some to-do lists or atleast a schedule of everything you need to do. Put them in order of priority and start from the top. Tick off each task you complete and move on to the next. That should help give you a sense of satisfaction for completing each task! Cheers

I have an experience with this subject so maybe i can help, when i was about to choose a specialization , architecture was my dream since my childhood, everybody told me not to do it because "stupid arguments" i took there opinions seriously and guess what .. i didn't choose architecture.. yeah i lost my dream of being an architect .. this is not the end of the story .. then i felt uncomfortable in the specialization i choosed and i changed it to another specialization which was worst .. so i got depression because of this, i didn't study the whole year despite i was an excellent student.. why ? Because it was not my thing ! I wasn't comfortable at all! I felt like i just wanna die.. THEN ! i stopped everything and just took a month of thinking , and i realized that .. my only solution is my dream.. ARCHITECTURE ❤️ i joined Architecture next year and till now I'm grateful about this decision because I'm just HAPPY ❤️ this is my world, i find where i can put my creativity , i found creative people who understand me , i started to make more dreams becaus architecture has 1000000... Doors ✨ I started being motivated ,i discovered a lot of things about myself, i learnso much things in only one year, and you know what! Architecture is a lifestyle , it's not like the other specializations .. Architecture is UNIQUE ❤️ good luck ❤️

I'm sure that Alex's problem isn't just with architecture but with life she can't find a purpose for her life and it's the best time to start reading about Islam 💖💖

That is really good advice. I do find that if I take time out then I just get more confused. I am an older female who only recently graduated in Engineering. It was hard to keep motivation and I often wondered if I did the right thing. I had people tell me that I should have done Architecture. That I shouldn't be studying Engineering. Anything but Engineering. Interestingly this came from a lot of women. Some men too but a lot of women. This put a lot of doubt into my mind as to my capabilities. I certainly didn't feel that smart. But there were people who said to me, keep going! It is the piece of paper at the end. Keep going! Well, I got the piece of paper. I am trying to feel motivated. I am now learning 3DSMax online and AutoCAD Civil 3D But as fun as these are it is hard to get motivated to do.

Thank you so much for sharing Gae! I think it's a good realisation that everyone has their own methods to gain motivation. Everyone struggles with something and everyone comes across feeling of being demotivated. To figure out your own method for gaining motivation is the key. Although, not easy.
