Outstanding work and great tutorial. And let's clear up something that a lot of commenters have mentioned (and obviously have NO CLUE what they are talking about) ... The skin at the top of the nail that is still alive is NOT the cuticle - it's the eponychium. The cuticle is the DEAD tissue that grows out if the eponychium and is in the nail plate. If you dint remove the cuticle from the nail plate, gel or acrykic WILL lift. Period. End of story. If you aren't trained and/or a professional nail tech, stop with the rude comments. LEARN before you comment.

lol man am I glad I watched this before buying a gel nail kit, I recently bought a kit for acrylic tips (where you use the powder and liquid stuff), I was iffy about it at 1st because I had tried it years and years ago and messed it up and all in all just had a horrible experience. the store I went to was out of the gel one so I figured Id try the acrylic kind again seeings how it was years ago and my artistic & crafting skills have greatly improved from back then..now that I see this video and see what all the gels entail , lol im so glad they were out and I ended up with what I did bc I would have been so disappointed with the gels..wish there was a way to show a picture bc I did awesome especially for my 1st time, they look like my real nails, you cant even tell their fake at all and I was even able to make them nice and thin (I absolutely hate thick nails, not only do they look too fake but you also cant scratch an itch with them..lol)Loved the video, it was very helpful and the ladies nails look great!Im curious though....why gels over acrylic nails? whats so different about the 2??

I heard that acrylic ones are bad for your nails
@EarthKandiSoap10 жыл бұрын
Gel and Acrylic are the same thing...just different chemical make up. Acrylic uses methacrylates whilst gel uses acrylates. Some gels use methacrylates. Liquid and Powder systems are longer lasting than gels and do not leave indents or damage nails if applied and removed correctly. The key here is to find a good nail tech. A bad one will make gel or acrylic look a mess and damage the nail plate. Gel is often favoured by nail techs because it's easier to apply. L & P takes months or even years of experience to get right. Having said that, I'm a nail tech of 15 years' experience and can apply a set of acrylics in under an hour. I rarely file to shape. I do all my shaping with my brush. But it takes years to get to that level.
@ninadandy939 жыл бұрын
The nail tech I went to said she did gels but it felt like the same process as acrylic...she didn't build up the tip, she glued on a tip and did an overlay with the gel...the other thing I'm confused on is that she used the purple liquid on the brush then dipped it into the powder to form the bead...idk man, I just want to make sure I didn't get played. I feel like I payed ten extra bucks for the same nails. And one more thing- I asked her (bc I do my own nail art at home) if it was best to remove the polish with pure acetone or a nonacetone & she said pure acetone. But won't that ruin the nail and dry it out?
@texas.latina899 жыл бұрын

@tashialee48079 жыл бұрын
Elena Betancourt gel is gel and powder is acrylic. There is no powder gel!!! She definitely played you sorry to say. There are so many "chop shop " salons out there, that I've decided to research and educate myself to do my own nails. If you have instagram look up nunisnails he's very good and explains the difference between gel and acrylic. Also watch out for acrylic containing MMA it is very bad for your nail. A lot of these cheap salons use acrylic with MMA. Because it is cheaper it's illegal in the US. Inr way to tell if your acrylic is MMA is when you go to soak off your nails they become really gooey and slimey. Acrylic is supposes to crystal up and wipe right off. Hope this helps

I have been making the gel for 10 years. And I refused the gel polish because of health and ecology. When the coating is removed, it turns into dust, which is essentially microplastic particles. There are also rhinestones, sparkles, etc. About the dangers of microplastics, I think, it is not worth talking additionally. Plus, the salons use a huge amount of disposable materials: cotton swabs, gloves, files and much more. This also negatively affects the environment, since these products are difficult to recycle. All this goes to the oceans, foul our planet. Recycling is unlikely to be discussed, for sure everything is thrown into one trash heap and not sorted. In short, there is too much harmful waste from one client! Let's take care of our Planet! And the nails, by the way, became much better, they got stronger! 🙏

I haven't done anything to my nails in years, just put healthy plant based oils on them and file them, sometimes buff them... how unhealthy will gel manicures make my nails, will they become dry and brittle? I would like to maybe learn to do it at home to save money and possibly do it often but if it is really unhealthy I won't do it... I will look for another option to have pretty, but healthy nails, any advice/suggestions? They look fine now I just am bored of them:)

watch LOVE4NAILS channel she has really great tips on how to keep your nails healthy and nail art
@chrissr1239 жыл бұрын
If you do it correct and remove the product correct then there is no way you cant have pretty healthy nails when getting gel or acrylic manicures. If you wanna make sure that your nails stay nice and healthy you should take a good course before doing it at home, otherwise it might not be a good idea if you want to keep them nice and pretty :) you can also just pay what a professional technician demands, but make sure they are well educated and that you go back to them to get old product removed so you dont just rip it off and damage your nails :) I hope that helped you to decide.

It's it just me or I think acrylic nails are WAY better because you can sculpt and make them a lot more smoother and there is no gross tacky layer to wipe off and acrylics are nice and even. Also it's Easier to see when it is on the form also you need no curing light!! #teamacrylic :)

Beautiful! This is how I wish they would do my nails, but never get till my 4th or so fill in. I have very small petite hands and fingers and most of the techs make them to fat or burn my nail by trying to file them down or cut the corners of my nails with the file board. I stopped getting them done because of the pain and because they always lift with in a few days.

I never would've known that this is how nails are done. I thought they were just glued on.
@whatthereview3698 жыл бұрын
+Pablo Suarez Well there are ones you can just glue on. But its very hard to do them without the darn air bubbles forming, especially if the fake nail is a different shape from your real nail, the air bubbles will be really bad... Those simple, DYI glue-on nails do not last long, they pop off very easily. They are made for average people, with typical average nail shapes. But if you have a more unique natural nail shape and the glue-on nails are not the same shape as your natural nail, gluing it on and wearing it for a week or two can dent or disfigure your natural nail. It causes soreness and ugly dents in your real nails that take months to grow out. Which is why many people choose to have them custom sculpted like this, either with gel or acrylics. That way you can follow your natural shape. Plus again, gels and acrylics are stronger, they last longer. Even if you grow your own natural nails nice and long, you can still wear a thin layer of gel or acrylic over your own natural nails, to give them more strength.

With acrylic nails, they glue on a top to extend the length and then cut it to your desired length and get to work. Gel is made from acrylic but it is much more forgiving and doesnt dry like the acrylic powder. With Gel you can take your time. Gotta work fast with powder.

Different people learn different ways... I personally have it cut, never one got an infection. Only reason why people get infections aside from the cuticles being cut, is when the tools being used aren't clean. Most nail salons reuse the same tools on different clients.

Anyone who has anything nasty to say about this tutorial, needs to take a look in the mirror and see how sooo very ugly they are. This is a fantastic tutorial, which took a lot of time and effort to create and was uploaded for the benefit of artists who want to recreate this look. So to all those who are hating, please, send me a link of something YOU did better. I can guarantee you have nothing to back up your nastiness, except a jealous, and spiteful personality. If you've got nothing positive to say, don't say anything at all. The world doesn't need you taking up valuable oxygen. To the person who created this tutorial, KUDO's to you! You did a wonderful job, and there are tons of good people who appreciate your effort and thoughtfulness for sharing this. Thank you!

These turned out amazing. I personally didn't think they would (but I think that anytime I have my nails done). Regardless of that, if it would have turned out bad in my eyes (the end result), I wouldn't have posted a hateful comment because that is simply not necessary. Either way I feel like you can learn something from this video even if you didn't like what she did with the cuticles or the end result. Also even if the end result would have turned out not as good, it certainly would have been better then anything I can do.
@tracey2219626 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with you. I just found it left me feeling, unless you really have the professional knowledge then dont try to do this at home. It's not for people that have zero experience. I am so surprised by the ugly nail comments. I thought yes looks like it took some time, but i thought they looked really beautiful after everything was completed. Not for amateurs, so perhaps the comments came from those with zero knowledge of home nail application. Look around at some other tutorials people, some of the nails were very thick and something i would not wear myself personally.

You are correct. Any nail tech with proper training knows that cuticles should not be cut. Good for you for pointing this out. As a nail tech, part of the job includes educating the client. Cut cuticles can lead to severe infections. This may not happen but the risk is real and should be taken seriously.

Destiny Webb: Most trained nail techs don't agree. I'm realizing that while many clients today are interested in learning correct nail prep, which includes not cutting cuticles (live tissue), there are also just as many who are led to believe that poor nail prep habits are acceptable. In North America as well as other countries globally, governments are changing laws due to the high number of health issues that have risen from cutting cuticles along with poor sanitation practices in salons. Many techs & salons have adopted and changed their practices. I'm not trying to be confrontational here, and many readers view these posts and hopefully, people will determine for themselves (after some research), that what I am saying is accurate. Both nail techs & clients have expressed the same as myself. Let's be clear: Removing dead tissue IS correct, but cutting live tissue is definitely not! This is what I and the other posters are referring to. Let's keep the posts courteous, ok? 💅🏻😊
