Great tip, but there's another way. 1. Use a track app on your smartphone, that is able to export your track to a GPX file. I use Sports Tracker. 2. Sync the clock between your phone and your camera. 3. Now, record your track with the app on your smartphone during your photoshoot. 4. Back home, export your track to a GPX file. 5. In LR, go to the Map Module. Choose Map -> Tracklog -> Load Tracklog and select your GPX file. Your route is now showing on the map. 6. Select all images and go to Map -> Tracklog -> Auto-tag Photos Done! Your photos are now containing the GPS data

Hans Broeksteeg that is cool, but you must continue open track app that will take more phone power.

Nice! If your phone has Google Maps w/ location history enabled, you can also use its timeline feature to do the same thing. Google Takeout also allows you to export this data

One thing that I've found works is that I track my location on my Garmin GPS and that timestamps my location at specific moments in time. I make sure that the time on my DSLR is in synch with the GPS. When I am reviewing my photographs, I also export the tracking data from my GPS to an app such as Google Earth., I compare the timestamp of the photo with the exported tracking data from my Garmin. I am able to pinpoint myself at a specific location for that specific photo. Because the Garmin is satellite based, this has worked great for me even in areas away from cellular service. I use my photo editing app to embed the GPS coordinates in the metadata of the photo and I am done.

That's a brilliant tip! I'm looking for the same workaround with Google photos

You need to do this for every shot unless you are completely stationary while taking pictures. Kind of an obvious but omitted detail. Not always practical or easy to remember.

Great tip... I knew the tracking method but I always find it cumbersome, this allows me one drag and drop in post process to all my images. Couldn’t be simpler?

Really good video thanks I have one question I search my photos on my phone camera and the photos taken from my country of destination had the coordinates on lightroom but the photos I taken on the same phone camera when I was on holiday's in Africa the coordinates did not show up is there a reason for this or did I do something wrong. I am SUBSCRIBING TO YOUR CHANNEL thanks again

the problem is when there is no gps signal or horrible gps signal and cna't do that with my phone so software apps will be necessary then to add it manually. I experienced this two days ago, I was mountainbikigg and took photos, but so far I use map my photos app for windows, which is not great, also satellite image from bing is not matching with google maps so it can be meters of difference. but great advice anyway.

For some cameras, you can buy an external GPS in the 50 bucks range. Sadly Canon thinks these things are worth 400 bucks, ill be waiting until Canon has some competition.

Stupid enough this works only for those places that your phone can register coordinate and I can tell not all the phones are able. Secondly it is not working with one photo but you have to have it in each location.

That's pretty error-prone. I go on a trip, stop by the roadside for a photo op (haven't done that since yesterday), click click click, brm brm. Whoops, that GPS shot. Prospectively inaccurate too.

This doesn't work if you are moving, that's why I'm using GpsNose to record the track, here's a tutorial on how to do that (it's in german, but the subtitles are available in english) kzbin.info/www/bejne/mn2XaomLo9qjeqs And the best part is, you are able to share the track including all pictures!

The geotagging should be done automatically. This is what the feature is for ! I don't need to know where a picture was taken. The picture should let me know about it.

That's probably the least sophisticated advice u can give. So u may know the location of yr first shot. So what. U assume u took them all at the same place. Great, congratulation. O.k. that guy looks a little bit lazy and heavy, so walking may not be for him, so it may work for him.

One of the most useless "tips" I've seen. Why on earth would one want to set the GPS coordinates all the the exact same spot?!?
