If youre doing all the same mods, except for the regulated return/fuel bowl delete, you do not have to take the fuel bowl out to get to the HPOP. With an extension it is not very hard to get to the 2 bolts holding it in.

I would suggest against doing this when emissions testing is required. But that brings said if it’s good tuning and the a fuel is turned down it should be fine. A vehicle that old would probably just be a snap test.

I have a 2000 f350 plow truck and planning on tuning, how hard is it to see the computer code needed before ordering tuner. I had a new 6.4 I bought new & I tuned it at 30,000kms i put a sparten tuner in it and absolutely loved it, i ran a 210 tow tune everyday so that was 210 + 350 so 560hp everyday, tried the 275 race tune once but the black smoke (Coals) was heavy & mto was nailing everyone, that tune was insane especially shifting i felt th dash rattle, had that truck with no major issues for 13yrs till the roof rotted out! Ran great when i sold it also. Replaced it with a new 7.3 Godzilla. But i got my old girl that I drive everyday but need backup for my jobs

@screamindieselltd11 ай бұрын
Do you really think you’re adding 140 hp to a bone stock fuel system on a 7.3. That engine came with 235hp at the CRANK and will not give you the same hp goal the customer was after. Hydras are a great tuner and I put one on this vehicle with jellibuilt tunes for a reason. Sounds like a nice rig you have. There’s not a lot of the 7.3s out there that i see so it’s good to see some people still taking care of them and building them. Have a good one 👍
@Jabooty_Williams8 ай бұрын
@screamindieselltd you can definitely get 140 hp off of stock injectors. Stock injectors and turbo with a tune, CAI and 4 inch striaght pipe are usually good for 400 hp to crank if in good condition. Anything past that you are looking for an upgrade. 235+140=375. A +140 tune is definitely feasible on stock injectors and turbo with proper mods.

Don't do this kind of crap, there's a reason the legendary 7.3 is known as one of the most reliable diesel engines ever built. This is exactly why you see so many of these with only 200k on them but the engine had to be "rebuilt" because some toolbag decided to drop in huge injectors, larger turbo, etc etc and then kaboom. Plus most of the kits are very amateurish with unreliable aftermarket parts, and when installed by armchair mechanics who don't know how to run a scanner, that's just a recipe for disaster. But hey if you wanna go faster for 50k or so miles before you toast the engine, by all means have at it.
@screamindieselltd9 ай бұрын
Couple of things. 1. This was not a kit 2. You find fass fuel, industrial injection and dieselsite to be unreliable aftermarket parts? I don’t think so. This build is totally reliable for this engine. The dyno was top power, realistically it will live its life at 350-375 hp. Well below the limits of this engine and how it’s built. 3. 80hp injectors are far from huge as well as the turbo. Also you don’t need a scanner to run these parts. All the parts are designed and chosen to work well with each other in the build so you don’t get high egts and the boost is only going as high as you fuel it.

I have a 2000 excursion gas I'm wanting to convert it to deisel. I found a 2000 7.3, going to rebuild it, and the power level here is about exactly where I wanted to get it... reasonable to drive daily but enough power to tow whatever. I made my truck into a dually and put 22.5 alcoa semis on it. Diesel conversion is obviously going to be the big deal part, especially financially.
