I'm impressed that you can extract usable power from 6 MPH because a turbine that starts making power at 9 or 10 mph is useless for everyday use. You have to be living in a windy location on this planet to reap the benefits of a turbine that starts making power above 9 mph. Unfortunately ,like me , most of us don't. Kudos to your excellent design and workmanship Ian.

Thanks that is all i need a just a bit of positive feed back and i will not stop trying to build a wind turbine that works, cheap for all of us and small enough to fit most homes.

Well Ian i think you have got it. A pma can make usable power at 5 mph winds. They all said it cannot be done and you have proved them wrong. The right combination of blades, pma and pulley's and walah, amperssss. It's looking very sleek. A nice cover and you'll have a good looking machine. And look how close it is to the ground. I can only imagine how well it will work on a tower.

I have the 800 watt wands pma with 13 blades, someone boasted low wind startup. but it's the coging that needs to be over come. the wattsup meter shows it works, just not all the time. I would rather have a few amps all the time than a lot of amps once and a long while. But this is what we do... tinkerer's of the world unite! nice job Ian! john

I agree with you Alan. Firehawk71 keeps saying Ian is misleading newbies by not saying it's 4 to 1 ratio and belt driven ?? Why in the hell would Ian HAVE to say that, the whole fricken turbine is out in the open for ALL to see. He is just pissed that the pma is putting out amps in 5 mph wind at about 6 feet up. They said that the delco style cannot do it. Ian has proved them wrong.

Good video. The point is, it can be done with a delco style PMA in low winds. 2-3 amps is about what a car battery charger would make so adequate charging current is possible. Beyond that much could be said about your good homebuilt turbine, the falcon blades etc. etc. but again it can be done. Nice!

I also have wondered how to rig up heat sinks up or a simple water jacket and those CPU heat sinks crossed my mind too. The housing jacket needs to be made with heat sink fins on them and/or a water jacket built in the housing. Mine works on the ground so maybe these wont work for you guys..

Thanks yes i was getting 5 amps with the dual core in same winds but wanted to show a stock single pma can produce usible current in low winds. Large Falcon blades seem to do it for set up. I switch my gen 4 blade combo around for summer and winter.

Thanks Charles i always seem to get stuck showing high amps and it gets me into trouble. This time its about slow consistant sustainable low wind to make still usible power. It can be done! Funny i know i cant film it all day but it sits around 3 to 5 amps oh! and it keeps going when it gets dark.Still needs improvement but moving forward.

This video is Awesome!!, Your getting about 1 amp per 1 mph of wind, I bet if you were using the 14 mag PMA it would be a bit higher. Those blades are looking good, I am thinking I might switch my blade sets for my slower summer winds, and switch them back for my faster winter winds. Anyways It is looking great I think your on the right path :)

I have been tweeking the dual core to reduce the cogging. if you ever turn it you will notice 42 large cogs per rotation. what I did it take one of the stators and turn it a small bit to were now I have 84 small light cogs per rotation and it turns easy now. so I should beable to pick up on 8 mph winds. I will have to test it and see. Im sure it will work better. again thanks for the video man.

Great job! 2 points. 1.To be a smart ass id say about 60 watts worth of heat or 204.7 BTU's .size of wire in the coil can it take that? not sure whats in yours. But its ok as long as amp draw is low or limited but if you put a high draw at low speeds you FRY! One of my wind blue ones @ 300 rpm will do 175 watts as long as I pull no more than 50 it stays cool not in the air either on ground. 2. shoot it with laser temp gun @ low speeds to see. then whats max op temp for your set up. my max 300

Very nice setup buddy. I will take little Amps all day long instead of alot of Amps every few hours. Thanks for sharing your talent Mate .

you need to sell that to Jeff or see if he can build them help Wyatt design them and get like a precentage off the sells. hell that could be prefected for even the dual core with much larger blades like twice the length. and it to would be doing the same. great video Ian. man that belt drive works great with your singal core PMA very very nice low wind power. I need to build one for my dual.

I was just thinking about cooling for the PMA,, might want to use the hydro cooling fans that Jeff sells. With this low winds making power there might not be enough wind to cool the PMA properly. Just a thought I don't know heh, I don't make power in 5mph winds so its new territory.

I'm not strong enough to get it in the stream myself, waiting on that one. The wind turbine I have has 13 blades, maybe too much weight to turn at low speeds. do you think the Falcon blades perform better?

No John i think the wind is the same where ever we live. I just used the resourses that are avalible it happend to be its MWandS. Had i found better well lets say we know the answer to that one.Hows the water wheel going i cant wait to see it in action its to much to bare! keep it going.

Sorry was not trying to mislead. You can buy the pma from Missouri wind and solar and get the same results from your rig. Yes a stock pma will do this. easy firehawk. I have shown in all of my videos how you can do this.

I am not giving people shit. Don't really know who you are. Checked your channel you have Orlando's video's on it and i like his setup. Most people do. This video just show's that if you the right setup. That it is possible to get the amp's out of it. Most people also know that Ian's setup is a ratio setup. I am also 99% sure that Jeff and Ian would be talking about how to make this setup available to everyone because it makes the pma work better.

I wonder if you remove the belt and attach the blades and hub directly to the shaft of the turbine motor would you get the same amperage at 6MPH. Any thought about that

No you see no power as a direct drive at this wind speed using this type of generator but using a 4 to 1 ratio it will generate low but some usable power.

Firehawk71 Don't make something out of nothing. You used the term " misleading " when commenting on Ians video. Everything is out in the open for all to see including new guys. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to see it is belt driven not direct drive.
