If you dont have any tools you can do this by hand under your transmission with the shift cable
@TowMan127 Жыл бұрын
Yes but I try to show how to do them from inside cause there’s less risk of getting injured or killed from getting under the vehicle. I used to do them all the time but that’s the risk I take.

To push the pin in, how hard should you push? I had one like that and wasn’t sure how hard to push it so I just used skates
@TowMan1275 жыл бұрын
Kinda have to push hard. When you turn the key it’s what pulls the pin in. You wanna push just enough that it allows the shifter to move down. Kinda have to hold the shifter down while pushing the pin

@@TowMan127 Hate to say it, but it saved me a tow. Linkage broke, but i was able to put in park, start suburban, then put it in drive & get my eife and daughters off the highway and home safe!!!
@TowMan127 Жыл бұрын
@@ijr927Glad you got everyone home safely. I’ve towed plenty of Tahoes and suburbans cause the cable would pop off the transmission. The plastic connector would wear out and the end of the cable would just pop off.

I did this. The pin fought me, but went in. the shifter did not release. got the key back and it won't turn.

Do I need to do that when my transmission won’t work unless the ignition it’s off but when I turn it back on and put it on drive it does drive but once I hit 21mph it’s stops going like it’s on neutral.
@pedroreyna819892 жыл бұрын
And I tried this and my pin is already in.
@TowMan1272 жыл бұрын
Have you checked your transmission fluid? If you have low fluid your transmission could slip. Might have a transmission problem or a module that controls the transmission.
@pedroreyna819892 жыл бұрын
@@TowMan127 yes fluid is good but kinda dark gray and kinda stinky.
@TowMan1272 жыл бұрын
Transmission fluid should be gray. Might need to have it checked and serviced

Safi Moss The linkage is easy to do just need a wider screwdriver
