Tried WSL2 if you’re on windows? It runs Linux perfectly fine but if you need a GUI it’s possible using DirectX forwarding if you use a compatible OS or software then it’s like you’re using “Liniows 11” got a UI and everything if done properly. (I have experience with other apps and VMs but not ROM related so you might just want it for performance?)
