@ZacharyMcCormick113 жыл бұрын
Hmm, it may be too late to sign up for the 2021 AP Exams, unless you pay a late fee. At my school, if I want to self-study for an AP Exam, I have to reach out to the AP Coordinator, fill out a form with all of the subjects I want to self-study, and pay the necessary fees. Then, the AP Coordinator places me in the appropriate sections of each course on AP Classroom, and that’s pretty much it. I guess what I would do is reach out to your school’s AP Coordinator or someone from administration who works in college and career readiness. If you don’t have an AP Coordinator at your school though, I’d email apstudents@info.collegeboard.org to connect with one. They will inform you of nearby testing center locations and dates and order your testing materials. I hope this helps!

@ZacharyMcCormick114 жыл бұрын
Stream Awake yes, my next video is actually going to focus on micro specifically and how I self-studied and earned a 5. If you want some quick tips now though, I would say, more than anything, know profit maximization. It comes up all the time! In fact, I think, even on the condensed 2020 exam, I was asked about profit maximization twice, so know that. I would also say make sure you know all of your graphs (monopsony, perfect competition, labor market, cost curves, economies of scale, etc) because you will ALWAYS be asked to draw at least one or two graphs on the FRQs (same goes for macro as well). I’ll definitely make a video on micro, but I don’t take macro until second semester this year, so perhaps I’ll do that one later in the school year. Thanks for the suggestions though!
@streamawake28714 жыл бұрын
Zachary McCormick OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH 🙏🙏thank you for taking the time to explain this i appreciate it so much. I have one more question though. should u take micro first or macro? or it doesn’t matter!
@ZacharyMcCormick114 жыл бұрын
Stream Awake well technically, it doesn’t really matter. If you want an overview of more general or large-scale economics before getting into the impacts of individual decisions on the economy, then study macro first. However, I’d personally recommend studying micro first, since it goes over more of the fundamental economic principles (like supply and demand) that also apply to macro. Also, I think it helps to understand how the economy impacts individuals before getting into more large-scale economic applications, but that’s just me. It depends on how you learn best. I don’t know if that helps or not though haha.
@ZacharyMcCormick113 жыл бұрын

@ZacharyMcCormick113 жыл бұрын
When you say "barely passing," do you mean you're barely getting a projected score of 3 on the exam, or you're barely getting above a 60% "passing grade"? I'm just curious because if you're getting approximately 61% or higher on the practice exams, that would be equivalent to a 5, so don't feel as if you need to earn a 95% in order to get it, as that would be insanely challenging on an AP-style exam! Either way, to answer your question, I would probably devote most of your time to either internalizing all of the content from a review book (I'd recommend the Kaplan Review Book) or watching the AP Daily Videos on AP Classroom. I've also been seeing in the comments that a lot of people have found Mr. Sinn's Discord server helpful, so that may be worth checking out! Hope that helps!
@anna_wo3 жыл бұрын
@@ZacharyMcCormick11 on things like practice MC and FRQ I am getting like 39/60. So over the halfway point but not getting 60/60? Thank you so much I have been doing lots of Mr. Sinn stuff but at this point I don't think the review book would come in time so I'm just kinda doing all I can via ap classroom
@ZacharyMcCormick113 жыл бұрын
By earning a 39/60, you're setting yourself up to earn a low 5 on the AP HuG Exam, so you're doing just fine (that is, so long as you're doing AP-style practice exams). In order to earn a 5 on the entire exam with a 39/60 on the multiple choice questions, you can expect to earn a 5 by scoring at least a 14/21 on the three FRQs combined. And, just to be super blunt with you, don't expect to earn a 60/60 on the multiple choice. In fact, typically around 0.01% of students earn all possible points on the exam. In fact, before the AP Human Geography Exam was restructured a bit, I believe my former AP HuG teacher had mentioned that there had been years where not a single student earned a perfect score, so by no means should you get discouraged if you're earning 65% on the multiple choice, as the AP Exams are curved (oftentimes very significantly), given that they are meant to have a difficulty equivalent to an introductory college-level class. A score of 5 with a 65% is worth just as much as a score of 5 with a 95%, so as long as you're earning at least a 61-62%, you should expect to earn a 5 on the "real exam." However, I'd actually recommend preparing for the FRQs a bit more than the multiple choice, since they're weighted significantly more than the multiple choice. While both sections comprise 50% of your score, the multiple choice section is 60 points (1 point per question), while the free response section is only 21 points; thus, each point earned on the FRQ is weighted almost three times more than each point earned on the multiple choice. So, above all else, make sure you have stellar FRQs! They could easily help or hinder your AP score! I hope this clarifies the breakdown of the AP HuG Exam.

What should I do if I only have 4 weeks to study and cram?
@dexue79463 жыл бұрын
Study
@ZacharyMcCormick113 жыл бұрын
Honestly, for AP HuG, four weeks should be plenty of time to study and instill all of the content, although I guess it depends on what you mean. Are you currently self-studying it (and haven’t learned any of the content yet), or are you taking an AP HuG course? If you haven’t been exposed to any of the content at all yet, then I’d recommend getting a review book, reading it cover to cover and instilling all of the content because after all, review books only give you the most important details to know for the exams, so you’ll want to know virtually everything presented in them. If that’s not something you want to do though, definitely utilize the AP Daily Videos on AP Classroom. Actually, they’d directly correlate to what you can expect to see come exam day, so regardless whether you use a review book or not, I’d at least check out some of those videos. Regardless of where you’re at now in terms of the content mastery and the amount of time you have left to prepare, it goes without saying that the best thing you can do is expose yourself to the content (by making meaning of it, rather than just mindlessly memorizing it). In doing so, I’d definitely recommend looking at past FRQs from previous AP exams and take some practice exams. I believe College Board has released one or two multiple-choice tests as well, or you could also take some practice exams in a review book should you decide to purchase or borrow one. Hope this helps, and best of luck 👍🏼

@ZacharyMcCormick113 жыл бұрын
Honestly, yes, in comparison to most other AP exams, AP HuG is actually rather straightforward to self-study for, since the exam is pretty vocabulary-heavy. There are also plenty of terms that you may already be familiar with and/or can likely deduce the meaning of using logic, so that makes self-studying it a little less daunting as well. If you’re planning on doing it, I’d just advise to get a prep book, really instill all of the content in whichever book you choose, and take some practice exams (and look at past FRQs). Hope that answers your question!

@ZacharyMcCormick113 жыл бұрын
I would definitely be more than open to creating a video for it, but it would most likely be after AP testing has finished. I just don't think I have the time to do so! But no worries! I can definitely give you some tips here instead and guide you in the right direction if that works for you. The first thing I'd do above all else is take a diagnostic exam. Either try to find a past released exam or take a practice exam from a review book just to gauge where you're at and see your projected score on the "real exam." Then, look at the concepts that were most challenging to you on that exam and try revisiting those. From there, utilize an AP Calc BC review book and/or watch the AP Daily videos on AP Classroom for further content review. Above all else though, nailing the exam really comes down to performing well on the FRQs, so I'd recommend looking at the past FRQs on College Board and practicing as many of them as you can and checking your answers using the keys provided. I'm sure, through doing so, you'll notice that the format of the questions they ask tends to be very consistent from year to year. After a while, it'll start to feel like you're doing the same problem over and over; thus, come exam day, those FRQs will start to feel like second nature to you! And, above all else, don't forget the "+ c" when taking an indefinite integral haha. If you have any specific questions regarding the course content, structure of the exam, or anything else pertaining to AP Calc BC, feel free to let me know!
