just wanted to leave a quick comment for other people who might think they can keep their old drivers license, when i went to exchange my US drivers license for a canadian one in ontario they did take my old one and didn't let me keep it so make sure to take pictures and scan your old one for proof or just for your records before you exchange it! i think i heard at one point in the video that ontario didn't care that much about your old license but maybe it differs at the service you go to or the person so just saying my experience but thank you for the video it was really helpful!

Thanks Julia for these amazing tips! Question : I'm going to Ontario for 2y under study visa. Is it possible to apply for an exchange license after studies, once I get my PGWP even though I will have those 2y gaps without taking the wheel? (also considering that my driving history would add those 2y gaps even when I'd be in Canada) wouldn't they notice that it won't be true as I will be in Canada= no driving during those 2y?? I'm worried as driver centre asks for passport ID in order to take GFull

I feel like they might ask you to take all the exams due to this gap. Also, you're not allowed to drive with that licence after 3 months. If I were you, I'd exchange the licence as soon as you get to Canada 🙏🏻

Hi! I just have one question... Does it affect the type of licence that you have in another country? Or you just go and take the test to see if you get a G1, G2, etc...? The thing is that I am taking the driving course in My country (Colombia) and is a B1 licence here. I don't know if it is valid in Canadá :(

it doesn’t affect the categories (A, B) but it might affect the licence type (learner’s, probating, full licence). hope that helped!

They should have to follow the same rules as any other Canadian born citizen. And jump through the hoops of g1 g2 and g . License and in the same time frames and pay the same amount of money

Canada does not exchange license with any county in the world - except for united states of America - what you are explaining here is not exchange just a reference for a G1 or G2 never a ( straight hand to hand exchange for a actual full license ) USA license you can exchange same day at service Ontario ,no other county

yes, you’re right. that’s not “exchanging”, it’s just skipping G2 if you have enough experience
