My question is that I don't want to know all the complicated stuff as to how they calculate my rating behind the scenes. I want to know how do I play rated games. How to I join a tournament. How do I get an ID etc. If there is an rated event in my place do I just show up there, pay the entry fees and then the organisers will do everthing for me? But I don't even have a Fide id. All I know is how to play. I'll just show up in the tournament, do as I'm told, play whoever I have to. I'm just confused about the initial process

See, you might have the tournament brochure. Mostly they guide you there about FIDE ID and all. You just have to create a FIDE ID to play a FIDE rated tournament, you can visit the fide website and do so by filling your basic info and paying a required amt. Now some countries also have their federation registrations, like AICF for india. These all details, the tournament organizers will convey to you.

Hi, If you have already registered for a national federation like AICF for INDIA, then no need for registering for FIDE ID...After the tournament they will make it by themselves, like if u are getting a rating, check yourself on the internet at the start of the next month and you will be able to see your FIDE ID.

If i played some tournament and i calculated and i realise that i got a score above 1400, so now if i stop playing chess tournament till the 26 months finished.Did my score reduce?

if 26month period is over, that tournament score will not be counted... But if u played 5 players, and u got above 1400 and got a FIDE rating, then that rating will remain with you lifetime. Just the fact that if u dont play for 1 year, you will be declared "inactive" and you would not be in the list, as soon as you play another game you will be active again. I hope i cleared your doubt.

It depends, if its a big tournament all boards are dgt...usually top 10 or some boards are dgt and others are normal mat boards

which ever tournament you want to check, see the tournament on, chess-results.com/ If the word "FIDE RATED" is used in the name of the tournament then it is, otherwise not. Mostly in India they are not FIDE rated.
